Take blocked slots into account when reporting chest usage

TL;DR When reporting how many slots are used out of the number available in the item tooltip, take blocked slots into account, instead of reporting based solely on chest size. What ? Item tooltips show chest availability, very handy especially when you are checking items from a distance: Reported c...

Re: New player, handling mistakes?

As Serenity said, start by cutting off the supply of ore - rotating one belt one half turn stops the ore coming from the miners from feeding the furnaces. Rather than wait for the furnaces to use up the ore already on the belt, I remove the inserters to stop ore feeding into the furnaces. Then I ext...

On upgrade, I got the notification that research for radar had been removed. Not a problem, just curious what that was about, as I didn't see it in the list of changes.

Re: Search for Train Stop on map.

Yeah with a small to medium base, you can just turn on train stop names and find the one you are looking for. When base gets bigger and bigger, being able to search becomes more and more useful. Searching for a map label would also be a handy little addition...

[Great idea, terrible execution.
Ah but if you knew my husband, you would realize this is what he does - really, really bad jokes and puns. I'm just happy that there any left and he didn't eat them all after all that creative exertion

Re: [photos] Factorio in real life

Your husband seems pretty awesome. Yeah, that was the thought that came to my mind as well. Thank you! I passed on your compliments to my husband. For me, the best part is that he made this knowing I love Factorio, even though he himself can't stand to play it (he's the active shooter and/or solve ...

Re: Friday Facts #345 - Unit group collision mask & Artillery shell particle

It would be pretty cool if the ejected shell was an actual item, like a used nuclear fuel cell, with a recipe to re-use it to make a new shell out of fewer materials. :)

So you basically finished the game simply by building an oversized bus? That makes the game seem almost ridiculously simple now.
Wait you mean there are other ways to win the game? 8-)

Re: Joseph's technicolor dreamcoat, or how not to make a main bus

I did 'cheat' a little: once I had the first satellite, I told the splitters to prioritize materials for the rocket parts over materials for the satellites... likewise satellites and rocket part materials for the rocket silo over filling the bus. My plan is that once I have launched the first satell...

Re: Remove Fluid Barreling

I do not think barrels should be removed. As the wiki says, https://wiki.factorio.com/Barrel , it is more efficient to transport fluids by tanker (25K), than by barrel (50 per barrel x 10 per stack x 40 stacks = 20K). In addition to the benefits noted by SupplyDepoo, if you are storing fluids, barre...

Re: ACME special delivery

The stations are named: !Mall or !Nukular. This way they are always on top of the list. No need for search. Using trains with only waggon is a little wastefull. Trains with 5 waggons and nuclear fuel are fast enough. Nice idea to use the exclamation mark to push key stations to the top of the list....

Re: ACME special delivery

Ah very good: one train stop delivers the fuel, then the fuel is shared across bot networks so each build (what I call a sector) has fuel trains that stop there. That makes perfect sense to me. No fuel for outposts, same here, the train gets fuel when it delivers from the outpost. 42K satellites lau...

Re: Auto-start nuclear fuel loading

Somting fishy. Quite likely! Some of the extra power is because I have just doubled the size of my base from 1KSPM to 2KSPM (I actually did a test and I was hitting 2.8KSPM very happy about that) which makes 2800/60 = 46 times bigger, 500MW x 46 is about 24GW. However, beacons and modules make a bi...
