If there are reasons that factorio should be UDP when MAP DOWNLOADING, then give them. I've talked to other people who are computer savvy, who don't play this game, so they aren't bias, and even they think it's stupid to download files over the open internet with UDP. UDP is for LAN and streaming ...

It's not you, the game does not use the internet properly. I've posted a topic on this in bug reports, they are using the wrong internet protocol.

IDK why it stopped working now in 12.4, but its most definitely because UDP is being used incorrectly. Requesting the packets on UDP is useless and actually BAD, because they really don't even work on UDP so if a packet is actually dropped the requests are not at all able to recover it and just spam ...

Yes, the game just utterly spams UDP packets until it jams up itself and everything else (confirmed this with Wireshark). This is an extremely bad bug that has rendered me incapable of playing multiplayer anymore.

Every time I try to connect to a multiplayer world the world loads to a certain point then the game crashes. (It freezes and I have to end task) When it does this it takes out my internet.
