rather than shrinking the size of the barrels would reducing the stacking not be an alternative option.
It's change the dynamics of storage/train based transport without affecting belts/inserters

Re: Friday Facts #206 - Workflow optimisation
Since I work with servers all day here are a few suggestions.
1) stop buying consumer grade hardware!
2) go and buy a datacentre grade SSD. They tend to come rated for a number of drive writes per day - 3 dwpd is the full capacity of the drive written 3 times a day every day for several years ...

If trains can be connected to the circuit network will be be able to read the contents of a train?
I'm thinking it'd be nice to be able to load a single carriage with a full set of repair materials (10 x turrets, 50 x wall sections, some repair packs, perhaps a couple of spare bots etc)

Are we nearing the point where I could run a factorio server then?
I work for a hosting company, quite a few of my colleagues already run minecraft servers etc. I'd love to be able to run a factorio one

You probably should think about expanding the single player campaign before releasing on steam, i'd hate to see complaints that the game was short
The game is as long as you want it to be. Sure it ends with the satellite launch, but its entirely up to you when you build it. You can spend hundreds ...

Is there anyway to read accumulator capacity?

Now we can read the levels of storage tanks I can just about think of a way to detect if the power has gone off by ...

Re: Version 0.12.0
you've changed how inserters/belts work.
If you didn't want stuff stuck on the end of a belt you created it so it only just reached the inserted emptying it.
Now the inserter doesn't appear to see the belt unless its right in front of it... (it was probably a bug and should be fixed but it's going ...

To produce concrete without adding more items stone+coal+water makes logical sense. It would be interesting if concrete could take time to 'set/dry' although I've no idea if there's any sane way to implement this.
