1. It takes too long to stop. Yeah it's a big heavy tank, so it makes sense that it takes some time to accelerate, but the slow stopping speed is just really annoying. Add more interesting things to find around the map in freeplay

One of the fun things about the old demo, after completing the objectives, was to go find all the ship wreckage that was scattered around the map, and get the goodies inside. It would be cool if freeplay had neat things like that to find while exploring. Maybe some ship wreckage, partially-destroyed...

Game-world time of day clock?

It would be nice to have a little clock in the UI somewhere that shows the current game world time, so that we could tell how much time we have before night or morning comes, like so I don't get into a fight against a biter nest right before it gets dark. Does our character not wear a watch?

There is no real time pressure. Events triger when you complete the objectives. So if you feels like being not ready to enter the next phase of the campaign, stall the last objective and get yourself and your base into a better position.
