Re: Friday Facts #321 - Countdown
that yellow underground belt going under the factorio logo in the new coverart is hurting my eyes/brain... the underground entrance is fully saturated everything after the exit is almost empty!
or is it just a easter-egg pointing to not yet announced underground-splitter? ;)
Ok, you made me ...

What do you listen to while playing?
Typically, when I play Factorio, I have some kind of video on my second screen. During my last game, it was this interesting lets play/lecture series regarding Deus Ex.
I'd be curious to know what (if anything) other people playing watch/listen to while doing so.

Re: Friday Facts #318 - New Tooltips
The new tooltips are gorgeous. Job well done.
Tile batching is also really nice. I had to wait a good long while just to concrete over my nuclear reactor in my last factory.
I also agree with enabling batch construction for belts. At least a good thing to try.

Turrets that deploy combat robots
This is a request that feels pretty simple to me, though I've never written factorio mods. Maybe its one of those things thats easier said than done. A turret/roboport that can deploy a small number of the vanilla combat robots out to a certain range from themselves. Sort of a defense focused ...

Re: Niggles and nitpicking - player preferences
My standard factory is typically a belt bus with boutiques along one side or the other. I've never used a giant mall until my current game. Up until recently, I also seriously handicapped myself by not using a lot of what the game has to offer. Nuclear power and combat robots being the two big ones.

The sad part is that at 28 hours, this STILL launches its first rocket faster than me, and I really don't know what to say to that.

The only ones I can remember are these:
Bottleneck because it is so, so useful. Oh my god is it handy.
EvoGUI because I don't want to have to type /evolution over and over.
Infinity Mode for creative mode shenanigans and testing builds. I have never enabled it and then hit save on a game I ...

Re: [0.17.69 vanilla] Inserter mispick on rocket launch
Thanks for the reply, that explains it.
However the explanation is a bit counter intuitive. As i do not see any gain from sending anything else to space than a satellite, it requires some explanation to the player why this behavior is as it is. All other factories / buildings (at least as far as ...

Lol, why would they need that? They aren't hosting anything critical.
"Not critical" doesn't mean "no backups". This forum isn't critical, but it should still be backed up. mods.factorio.com isn't ...

Re: Friday Facts #315 - New test servers
I was watching some old Command and Conquer: Red Alert videos and noticed that even though the game is very old, there are some basic animations on the edges of the bodies of water that help to give the illusion of the passage of time in the game. Factorio has the nice cloud shadows that pass ...

Re: Are Bitters unnecessary?
I see biters as similar to playing SimCity with random disasters. It's a fun challenge to prepare for and rebuild after for some. That said, I typically play with disasters off in those games because I don't enjoy that challenge too much. For me, it's just someone kicking my sand castle over. The ...

Re: Friday Facts #312 - Fluid mixing saga & Landfill terrain
I appreciate your struggles with fluid mixing. Based on FFF 211, it sounds like the line between ghost entities and real ones is rather blurry sometimes.
I wish you all the best of luck.

Re: Thank you (Make the dev-team happy today!)
Last weekend was the first time I've launched a rocket since I bought this game almost two years ago. It was my first game with biters turned off, which made all the difference.
Thanks for the 32 hours in that game, and the uncountable hours more in the factories I never completed. I plan to keep ...

Re: aliens needs multithreading :/
Unfortunately, multithreading is not a magic wand. As an analogy, in Factorio, it doesn't matter how long you make an express belt. If some section of it is a regular conveyor, you're only delivering 15 items/second on that belt. A computer works the same way. You can multithread all you want, but ...

Re: Friday Facts #231 - Belt compression & Crash log uploading
I am slightly disappointed in this Friday Facts. Not because of the privacy thing. I couldn't care less about that (and incidentally, I've never actually had a situation where Factorio has outright crashed on me, so either I'm not playing hard enough or you all are just that good)
