Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news

I think from the customer point of view it seems a bit odd paying the same amount for the expansion as you did for the base game. The base game involved a lot of work that you don't have to repeat for the expansion, like the game engine. If you're re-building the engine to make the expansion work th...

Re: [MOD 0.17+] Untitled WIP

Thanks for I'm playing on version 0.99.7 and the research line for turret damage is odd. Namely rather than following a single progressing line each of the modifiers links directly to the technology Turrets 2. Known issue with some of IR's non-recipe-unlocking researches, fixed for next version. Tha...

Re: Tailings ponds can overflow?

The thing with the tailings pond is it's a one off, no other tank or pipe has the same behavior so it's a bit of a gotcha and then you tech into proper tanks and forget it was a thing that happened to you. I overwrote the overflow sludge with stone bricks. Are there any mods which use this or a simi...

Re: pY Coal Processing - Discussion

However, a sufficient and as free resource in game, is the water: you don't even need electricity to get water, so what's the meaning of save low-temperture steam to come back to water, not to mention you need Cooling Towers whom consume electricity..? As far as I recall most or all of the r...

Re: pY Alien Life - Discussion

Today we finished the Vrauks paddock. With the pyHT Auogs, these friendly bug-like creatures are the only ones that you can build from start. All others you will need to make them, or collect dna samples (in case you play with "biters"). https://i.imgur.com/2QMSnCz.gif They look like they...

Re: Am I missing something or does the full PyMods mean an absurdly slow start?

It's part of Py Petroleum Handling. I don't recall when you first get access to it, but the recipes are done in the Advanced Foundry, which makes them a bit impractical to rush for because those are somewhat expensive buildings. Ah, I never installed petroleum handling because I thought it was just...

Re: When to use Nobium pipes?

But do niobium pipes hold 400 or 100? A guy above said 400 and if that's true, then that would make long sections of undergrounds slower than iron because of the increased capacity per pipe, which, as discussed, slows flow. In the version I'm using the niobium pipes hold 100 but the niobium undergr...

Re: pY HighTech Discussion

Hello all. I have recently unlocked tier 1 py logistic bots. Are they better or worse than vanilla logistic bots? It seems they have the same energy consumption, 3x the carrying capacity, but there's nothing showing how big the batteries are? They have the very great advantage of not requiring circ...

Re: pY Petroleum Handling

I'm using full Py suite, so I'm not sure if this is caused by PyPH or potentially PyRO, but i think i hit a deadlock. Molybdenum requires Ball Mill to produce Molybdenum dust, Ball Mill requires Assembly machine 2, Assembly Machine 2 requires Advance Small Parts, Advanced Small Parts require Stainl...

Re: Friday Facts #299 - Everything is more complex than expected

I've probably missed something but why can't you limit a train to reserving each block once? The train enters block 3 and removes the reservation on block 2, then reserves block 2 again (unless another train has already reserved it)? Alternatively you could mark the whole thing as working as designe...

Re: pY Fusion Energy - Discussion

You need molybendium to make stainless steel which you need for red belts and advanced parts, which are generally needed for any level 2 machine.

So if/when you want to upgrade your belts and machines beyond the basics, you need a LOT of molybendium.

Re: pY Petroleum Handling

I would like to know, are people rushing bots for personal construction or for bot based logistics? Because the basic bots are too slow for effective logistics (except for small volume stuff) and I haven't seen a way of using personal construction bots until you get circuits 2, at which point you ar...

Re: pY Industry - Discussion

It's not unique to the tanks, but some of them block visibility to a large area behind them which is rather inconvenient. Also while it might be nice to have progression, changing the volume stored without re-rendering the graphics is liable to cause the forum to be spammed by false bug reports, lik...

Re: pY Coal Processing - Discussion

I might be using a different set or version of mods but my niobium production doesn't use any sulfur. It does use crude to get the organic solvent (aromatics via Naphtha) but I did that because my lubricant usage is very intermittent. The refined syngas comes from coalbed gas and I probably spent a ...

We're not caring about fluid velocity we're caring about throughout and a wider pipe shouldn't reduce throughout but it does in factorio
Does that mean that running water from distant lakes via niobium pipes will give me less water than using iron pipes?

Re: When to use Nobium pipes?

The problem I have with niobium pipes is that they take longer to deconstruct than normal pipes. This makes them irritating to work with. In terms of material efficiency the underground pipes are absolutely top tier, 6 plates to go cross 30 tiles whereas the iron underground pipes take 15 plates to ...
