I tried to make a mod to fix this, but it's a bit tedious to find good color values since you have to restart the game to try new settings.
I have some example images in the repo's readme, but in the handful of settings I tried I wasn't able to get a satisfactory result.

I think there's a lot of assumptions about bots and belts being made in this FFF. I can appreciate that some players don't enjoy bots, but removing them from the game is a jump that doesn't make sense.

I also have a dual-monitor setup, but I don't notice any performance hit at all when watching videos and playing Factorio (which I'm pretty much always doing while I'm playing). What kind of performance hit are you talking about? FPS?
