Re: whats your preference for starting a new map?

I like to try and setup stuff in the map settings like high frequency and small deposits so I can make a lot of little basses and use a lot of trains

Re: How many main bus lines do you generally use?

I ment it more like a general thing like if someone has a favorite setup they use it a cool to learn stuff from others like having 8 copper lines instead of just 4 You’re allowed to do your bus as you see fit. I don’t make any two buses identical unless I’m following a blueprint for some starter bas...

How many main bus lines do you generally use?

How many main lines of base resources( copper
iron, steel, stone, coal and brick) do you use, I generally go with 4 lines of both copper and iron 2 lines of steel 1 of coal, and then stone/ brick usually get half a line on the same belt

Re: The Green Dilemma

[*]I've noticed a lot of people saying green isn't that good because speed and productivity are better for smaller and denser mega bases, this statement is true but eff mods are not ment for that kind of factory, they are ment for factories that don't have massive main buses( think benthams towns se...

Any Roboport variations inbound?

So I'm currently using mass amounts of drones to rebuild my horrible first mega base and I've noticed that with only 4 charging ports the current Roboport is absolutely slow for late game use and mass item transport like ore unloading and sorting(I warehouse my ore before it goes into a furnace stac...

Re: Seperate train research into 2 groups

Well if its suggested every day then why hasn't something been done? Because the devs aren't making the game you want made, they're making the game they want made, and IMHO they're very very good at it. Like, way better than 99% of the people who make suggestions are. If you want a game designed by...

Re: Split locomotives into three: Steam, diesel and electric

Hmm I like the ideas but really electric trains wouldn't really be good because you would just stress the game, the player and, not to mention the power grid of any factory. however splitting diesel and steam trains and have them limited to certain fuels would be nice. Like the steam train would onl...

Re: Seperate train research into 2 groups

OMG. This is suggested almost every day. There is even a thread about steam trains (and how there will never, ever be more types of locos or track in the vanilla game) not even halfway down the same page. https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=59935 Well if its suggested every day then why...

Seperate train research into 2 groups

Mainly this stems from playing rail world and running out of starting coal/ stone really fast. Honestly there should be 1 research right after steel/storage tanks that would give steam engine( maybe 1 tank, 1steel chest, 1 steam engine Maybe) and railway tracks. Then later down near blue science and...

1 rail train system pros, cons, headaches

I've been playing a railworld scenario game and I've been trying to implement a 1 rail system with sideings and branch stations. While it is efficent on rail building and not to mention any size train can be used. It is horrible to signal and for some reason I can't always put signals and stations o...

Re: Basic Trains Stuff

Personally, I'd rather have the beginning stage of the game lengthened, and the junk train makes even more sense then. Require research for electric drills, and add a burner assembler. There's some mods , but the assemblers aren't up to date with the latest game version. :S Yea honestly a longer ea...

Re: Basic Trains Stuff

Well that would be good for an easy start game for beginners, but honestly i was talking more about going from scratch to trains is just way to long. The early game in my opinion is fine how it is because it adds that challenge of starting from nothing. However in ever other aspect of the game their...

Basic Trains Stuff

As the subject states I'm proposing an early game train system that you could get started early into the game, instead of at the late Green/early Blue stage. The current diesel engine and wagons are usually researched late in the game around the 60min mark in a mega factory scenario. 60min isn't tha...

Re: Steam/diesel locomotives

Trains should start at red science with the junk train, then green science brings in proper steam trains blue science gives you both diesel and full electric trains( need electric engines and accumulaters for electric ).

Re: Steam/diesel locomotives

I do not think the game needs different types of burner locomotive. Factorio is not big on duplication anyway. So I think the game needs: 1. Burner locomotive - burns solid fuels. May or may not need water to function, I'm fine with either option. 2. Diesel locomotive - burns liquid fuels. 3. Elect...

Re: Steam/diesel locomotives

I certainly would welcome train variety, however steam locomotives don't fit Factorio's setting. Within the first few minutes of gameplay we transition from burner era to electricity from steam engines. Within an hour we are at solar if not nuclear. By the time trains become a thing we are already ...

Steam/diesel locomotives

As mentioned in the title this is about diesel and steam trains. I would personally like to see a progression in train technology as i progress through the game. Tier 1 could start with a basic tank locomotive which would be easy to build( 1 steam engine, 1 tank, 20 steel?) it could burn all solid f...

Re: Steam/diesel locomotives

I'd say to have 2 types of steam locos, and change the Diesel Locomotive. Steam engines require both fuel and water, but they're highly versatile with 2 different kinds. Although, they can only move at top speed when going forwards. Tank Engine (Tier 1) Small internal inventory for water (1/2 tank)...
