Re: 4 years worth of stupid!
dont worry it took me just as long to figure out where the reference "there is no spoon" came from . I spent the last 4 years thinking the devs had gone mad and named it jiberish

Re: Bots versus Belts
But to say that balancers don't matter.. If you are doing hardcore UPS optimization, you never build balancers. You can even put trains on a timer so they leave without being balanced. Sadly splitters are extremely ups heavy and making balancers requires splitters. However you could have a hybrid s...

Re: I want to play factorio but I lack a goal
The philosophy of this question goes far beyond the scope of this forum. I play the game to challenge myself and for the love of trains, your mileage may vary. Maybe try different styles of play? Role-playing may help. Put yourself in the mindset that your a solo colonist whos striping the planet of...

Re: Bots versus Belts
Nuclear power is a hell of a thing lol I have a 4.8gw blueprint that takes up a fair chunk of space. But its super tiny compared to the amount of solar that I would need to replace it Are you telling us that you literally cannot find the space to place a solar plant? :P I wouldn't be shocked if it ...

Re: Bots versus Belts
The problem late game with belts is that for massive throughput you need massive belt lanes. And then most often you need to figure out how to balance those massive lanes. Where as bots can inherently self balance if setup correctly and have almost unlimited throughput by just adding more bots and u...

Re: Rant about universal strategies (main busses)
Hmm, I think the term Main bus is thrown around way to much. But really a bus system is just a centralized set of materials that are easily accessible. My favorite style to play is having mini factorys all interconnected by rail and each factory is in itself a mini bus. Even in a city block build yo...

Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle tips and tricks
Hey guys, Sense 1.0 came out alot of people are starting a fresh save or playing for the first time. What tips and tricks do you use? Do you just put unwanted items in a small box in the corner of your base? Or do you reuse them. Also what is some of the stuff you wish you could recycle?

Re: First thought after loading a neglected save game...
Everytime I open a save I had sheveled I think the same thing.
Was I drinking when I did this factory? Why is that train line there? Who in the hell setup that oil system. Etc etc
I'd like to think I've just gotten better at the game with each save i start and and each new playstyle I chose lol.

1. Atomic bombs are great.
2. Atomic energy is great.
3. Atomic ammo is great.
And I bet this keeps any amount of the above supplied nicely

Re: Lategame mining options are lacking
The actual reason for the thread was, copy pasting the same mining drill BP is what you do all game so there's no change, and hence no progression. And in my mind there's no progression because you only have 1 kind of mining drill. By adding more like the bucket wheel mod does you have to think more...

Re: [0.17] Personal Defense TECH
Fusion reactors can't for physical reasons ever be net-positive at human-size scale. I'm sure your wisdom would be most useful to the people who inject nowadays billions into research and developpment for small scale fusion power generators  . I am pretty sure, the people taking that billi...

Can you heat water anymore?
I know this sounds odd but is there any way to heat water from ambiant(15°C)? The reason I would like to know is because I'm doing some testing of large scale Reactors(16+) and this would really boost efficiency and help in compacting size by giving me options for more compact stacks of heat exchang...

Re: [0.17] Personal Defense TECH
Would love to see atleast the personal chaingun as a parallel to the personal defense lasers maybe even a prereq for it. The personal minlayer is interesting however you could just use the personal roboport for that. Anyhow I do believe powersuits need alittle updating like fusion reactors should be...

3x3 reactor setups?
So I know this sounds dumb but has anyone tried a 3x3 reactor? So 8-9 reactors in a square. With or without the middle reactor( my thinking would be the center would act as a booster to either jumpstart the whole system or to add additional heat when needed, and yes I know it would have to be loaded...

Re: No dynamic train refueling yet?
This might sound a little dumb but when I do this I usually have a grand station of sorts where all trains stop and trade with other production lines so every smaller factory is built around 1 train and I just add more train/factorys as needed and all trains are fueld at the gs
