Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
Regarding punishment for letting a reactor go supercritical,
I'd go with radiation contamination that can make biters stronger, especially if they set up nests in the fallout area round the reactor
From reading so far, reactor explosions seems to be based on the reactor coolant going boom!

Re: What kind of computer do you need for Factorio?
got it on my Core i7 gaming pc
but it runs pretty well on the following laptop :
`Intel core 2 duo - T6570 @ 2.10ghz
4 gb ram
Ati mobility radeon HD 4300 series
and it runs well on the old Core i7 920 + intel HD gfx at work as well when i'm waiting for the servers to finish patching

Re: Railroad
I like the idea of having a steam train, water and the whole nine yards..
I'd prefer it at the late red, early green science stage, buildable using Iron ingredients ideally, could even take a boiler and steam engine.
two tiers of train carriage?, iron carriage with the current 20 slots, then steel ...

Re: Balancing of Capacities of Containers
on my latest train station i'm using wooden boxes for the inserter stack bonuses,
I find it's really silly that i can have 5 wooden crates running the length of one train carriage that can hold nearly 4 carriages worth in them!
let alone the iron & steel chests!
I think the crate slots should come ...

Re: [0.11] Game loads first then tries to check for updates
Minor but on slow computers it can easily add quite a few minutes!
Always bugged me on the laptop, game splash screen would load, then load all the mods... sprites... etc...
5 minutes later, get to the main menu and Boom, "update available!",
install update, relaunch game... mods ...

on the nuke power plants, why not make them modular?
more like "mk2" versions of the boiler and steam engine
nuclear reactor = v high temp boiler.
Steam Turbine = high speed steam engine
A possible risk could be that you can't starve the reactor of water,
it'd suffer temperature damage until you ...

Re: Need help with rail signals
i wouldn't double up on the double tracks at all, better to force it to "drive on the left" on all tracks in my mind,
if you can do double rail runs and single end the train them and don't give them any back on yourself loops then they can only go one way.
i'm a "drive on the left" UK'er as well ...

empty oil barrels clogging up the system happens more than i'd like as well!

old "invisible" stutter VS new visible pause and progress bar, invisible stutter wins for me.
The new autosave reminds me of the UAC interrupt that windows does when prompting for admin credentials,
dimming the screen and popping up a dialog box that you have to sort out, basically windows telling ...

i've had a belt loop in the past, assembler each end filling or emptying the barrel with about 20 barrels on it.
more because "i wanna see how the fill and empty barrel works" than the "pfft, hate laying all this underground pipe"

Re: [0.11.3] Powering unpowered roboports confuses bots
what about the initial 10% battery charge you get when placing the roboport??
when you place the robo port down it IS operational due to the initial 10%.
if you never connect it up to the grid, it does go through this "battery" and eventually runs out of power, but it can last quite a while until ...

*ahem*
Dytech Tools with its modular tool construction
and
F-Mod with its electric drill
are two examples of mods i know already that have custom tools
i agree with the stance that taking out the "tools" slot would reduce future modability.

I'm liking this idea, currently got too much load in the daytime to run without steam, but could prove useful later
Eurofighter, shouldn't the inserter feeding the single boiler be a burner?
you could run out of power completely before the inserter puts the fuel in and then your proper stuck!
