One year later, this is still a thing.
Kovarex's UI post hit Hacker News, given the amount of thought being put into the game's interface going on this seems like a pretty huge omission.

Re: Friday Facts #238 - The GUI update (Part II)
On the topic of blueprint gui, about half the time I use it I rename my blueprint but don't hit enter, causing the name to be lost.
There's no reason to require hitting enter when I hit a giant confirm button with my mouse.

Have you ever lost a save file unintentionally?
My roommate just accidentally overwrote his savegame that he'd put about 100 hours into. The cause was the very odd choice of default name for a savegame - any new game you load will want to overwrite your previous save from a completely different game unless you explicitly tell the game otherwise ...

Re: Friday Facts #197 - Chugging along
I really appreciate the blog post, stabilizing releases is always some of the most exciting work for me in Software.
Hopefully this savegame-destroying UI issue hasn't slipped past all of your radars before someone on the dev side made an actual decision about it: https://forums.factorio.com ...

Is this bug still live? I haven't tested the recent versions.

Re: Crash when connecting to multiplayer when out of disk space
I am also personally suggesting this issue to be properly resolved, since if the disk becomes full and the log can't be written, there's no evidence of the cause of the crash to users who didn't realise they filled their disk.
That's a good point. Had I been completely out of disk (rather than too ...

Crash when connecting to multiplayer when out of disk space
I have a machine with Factorio installed on D:\ drive steamlibrary, and an old small SSD on C:\ drive where pretty much only Windows is.
Factorio still writes its temporary data and such to the C:\ drive, and if it's full when it tries to connect to the multiplayer game it ends up crashing. The log ...

Re: Make save game overwrites less dangerous
Thank you for posting this thread. This is probably the worst UX issue in Factorio at the moment ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

I'd like to escalate a serious bug that got modded as "working as intended" -- viewtopic.php?f=23&t=46646
I don't think your intention is to delete player's save files![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Re: [0.15.9] Default save name overwrites different game
"Working as implemented" is the phrase we use for this sort of bug around the office.
I'm struggling to come up with any sort of scenario where most users, or indeed any user, would want to entirely erase a completely different game. I doubt this was "designed" this way.

[0.15.9] Default save name overwrites different game
This one has already cost tens of hours across multiple players. Anyone who has more than one game going at a time (say, a single and multiplayer save) is affected.
1) Start a new game in single or multiplayer, play for a while, save game with custom name, such as "Yokozar May Game".
