Re: Factorio SpeedRunners and Videos
Speedrunning a game means starting a game from the beginning and completing it as quickly as possible. So it makes sense that easy mode (big resource fields, biters far away or biters off) is the preferred choice. As far as not having blueprints, one could argue that if blueprints were allowed, it's...

Re: Killing nest are becoming annoying - Strategy to play?
In a vanilla game, if you want to spend the least amount of time dealing with biters, don't destroy bases. Destroying a base is the fastest way of increasing evolution. Build enough turrets to protect your base and then pretend biters don't exist.

And be sure the devs will communicate when they decide the time has come. All discussion up to that point is just unproductive chatter. Yeah! No one should discuss anything on the forums! Probably easier to moderate that way amirite? ;) i lol'd. I'm excited for 1.0. It means I can finally start wor...

Re: Who brought you to factorio?
I think the video by joseph anderson was the first time I heard about the game. The video got me really interested in factorio. So I watched several different twitch streams, and the thing that really struck me was the graphical style. Also the person I was watching was shotgunning trees, so I decid...

Re: Friday Facts #247 - Pricing and its exploits
3. Game resources could be more optimized. I had a system with a bunch of steam engines (around 80 of them?) and whenever my system goes over that area, it just slows to a crawl. You're totally right! Why don't the devs ever work on optimization? I think that is factorio's biggest fault. If this ga...

Thank you for belt compression
Thank you dev team for bringing back sideloading belt compression with 16.25, and compression from inserters is pretty ok too.

Re: Friday Facts #221 - 0.16 is out
I think that sideloading not causing perfect compression is bad because it is unintuitive and causes bad gameplay when you have to go out of your way to do unconventional, bulky, and obscure workarounds to combat it. The current state with sideloading being bad is in my mind a very similar situation...

Re: [15.35] Crash on startup through steam client
Thank you for the very fast reply. I disabled framerate monitoring in msi afterburner which turned off rivatuner, and then suddenly I can play again. That's very strange that it's affecting steam but not the standalone version. To answer your question, as far I as I know, I have automatic updates tu...

[15.35] Crash on startup through steam client
Since today, every time I launch factorio via steam, I get a crash on startup, no splash screen, just about a second of black then the crash. I've never experienced this issue in the past. I've tried verifying game cache on steam, restarting my computer, and rolling back to 0.15.34, but it's still c...

Re: 15.32 Crash while building solar field
After playing for a while, I think this was just a case of corrupted/missing files, and verifying the cache did the trick. I have no idea how that happened, but if I ever run into crashes again, I'll try verifying the cache before posting another bug report. Thanks for your help, posila!

Re: 15.32 Crash while building solar field
It's crashed a couple more times since my first post and in seemingly random spots doing things unrelated to other crashes. I just verified the game cache and it said I had 27 missing files. I'm not sure how that happened  probably should've tried that before making this bug report. I'm going ...
