Re: Testbench for 3/4way intersections

i have an issue. i save and exited while the tester was still running, now the save errors on load (or a fraction of a second after it at least) is there anything i can do? some recent designs are on that save and not backed up as bp strings EDIT: managed to fix it with a "pause multiplayer if ...

Re: 3 and 4 way intersections

Actually, i just realized that you don't have the compact multicross 4lane on the main list. its not much lower score than the full multicross (150 vs 163), while being considerably smaller (350tiles long vs 434), and still easy to build around (only 62 title wide legs) BP string(LHT): https://facto...

Re: 3 and 4 way intersections

as i had already extended the testbed decided to see what sort of numbers an unbuffered would get. so heres a 16lane christmas design. couldn't work out how to do it on 6 spacing, so its 8 spacing with adapters for context, this is worse than a compacted 4lane multicross (the multicross is twice the...

Re: 3 and 4 way intersections

That is really cool:) insane numbers:) I like that you could just adjust the testing map, did you find any issues when doing so? I see that the mod fails in counting number of lanes, that is fixable. Also how is performance? I remember in the old testbench something like this would barely run. it r...

Re: 3 and 4 way intersections

For the fun of it i decided to do a test for a 16 lane multicross (buffers between crossings could probably be better optimized) very good even split distribution, not great all crossing (tbf, a train trying to turn right[on lhd] has to cross 60 tracks on its way through the 1100x1100 intersection) ...

Re: UPS Wars 2 - Steel Smelting

Its great to see someone else start to run another UPS wars. sorry about suddenly disappearing from the first wars, but real world stuff happened that kinda took me out of action. as for the changes made from the first wars: Adding a fixed production target with no bonus for going over, is a great i...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

with regards to scaleing, i have broken out a full profiler and will try to see what isnt scaling properly with regards to void chests being slow, aaargha has already made a fix that give 10x performance with large numbers of them, but to keep it fair (and so i dont have to spend 13hours retesting d...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

looking at it, a disabled inserter does not go to sleep, meaning that a disabled inserter uses more ups than an inserter that cant do anything, but an inserter doing something uses alot more than one that is disabled. therefor disabling inserters are best used when the craft speed is low enough that...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

quyxkh: your attached map dosnt seem to contain any timmered inserters. are you sure you uploaded the correct one having said that the idea of keeping inserters asleep until they can get a full hand, is really interesting. it would be interesting to see how much difference it makes for the different...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

quick update on testing. Traintown MK2: there is so much buffering that i cant get a production reading (literally 4 full chests of ore/plate per furnace). you will need to eather limit the number of items per chest or run it on your pc and get it to back up, becasue im not waiting for it to when i ...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

What are the dimensions of the ore patch? (tilesxtiles) I need them for theoretical calculations so I can size my smelty and trains appropriately. Addendum: A reasonably big throughput minimum would probably be wise the ore patch is 200x400 tiles im probably going to impose a minimum of 50k/min and...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

the 100/216 is because the simulation is for 100k ticks, but the production is for one hour (which is 216k ticks) as for your score, its 27ish for the big one, normal values seem to be 35-40 with the best so far being 55. i suspect your striped down one will score higher due to not having a bloated ...

Ahhh that makes sense now! Ok, scaled her all the way back down, here's v2. You havent linked or attached anything to your post (although this seems to be happening to many people trying to send me designs) How can I test this for myself? I don't want to spam you with designs, but I have a few more...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

Ok, problem. I am mining the whole ore patch with direct insertion optimized and boosted as far as I can, and it's still running at 60/60. Ryzen 1600X at stock speeds shouldn't be THAT much faster than your OCed Intel, so i'm afraid you'll have to underclock to do a valid test, or give me a bigger ...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

What about energy? The devs already confirmed solar has least impact on ups of all power sources. So do we also have to prove it again or can we just use an energy source from creative mode? /c game.player.insert('electric-energy-interface') this is the vanilla equivalent to the creative energy sou...

Re: UPS wars: smelting challenge (design competition)

\Fair enough! I think I'll give you mine today already. excellent, the tests are mostly automated and take about half an hour before i can work out a score Another question: You say I can move the void chests, can I add more? Or, failing that, I suggest you prescribe a train length, just to keep th...
