Both of these worked, but was lagging too much to be playable, thanks anyway
In graphics options try to set sprite resolution to low and video memory usage to medium or low.
Desktop is better though ;)
Adjusting spite resolution made the game ...

You are running out of VRAM, the minimal amount for factorio is 512MB

I'm having trouble running Factorio on macOS, tried with the steam version and the free demo available to download.
The option menus are without checkboxes and the game is not... showing properly (see screenshots).

I'm certainly doing something wrong, any help would be appreciated.
