Re: Thank you (Make the dev-team happy today!)
As the FF has ended I would like to thank Kovarex and the whole team for a few things.
1. FFs. They were all great. ALL. I was waiting for every single once since I first saw the game during 0.14 era.
2. Persistence in improving the game. Both over the years and now. Most dev teams would be already ...

Moving group of biters on the map
I completely fail at this seemingly simple task. How should it be done? Can someone post a simple code example which issues a command and then issues next command once the previous one is completed and it just works 100% of time.
I create a LuaCommandable object with some biters in it and then ...

Re: Early Game on Rails
If I understand correctly OP's point is that trigger research is annoying for experienced players. I'm not far in my playthrough (with my 8 years old son) but so far (and I'm a rather experienced player with all achievements and more than a thousand hours into base game) only having to mine oil ...

You owned me . Correcting it now, don't know how it occured to me that it would be a shortcut of /color .
Thanks, it would indeed ruin the whole tournament.

Biter Clash 1v1 Tournament
About Biter Clash: Biter Clash is an indirect PvP Factorio mod that is heavily influenced by Biter Battles scenario. If you want to compete in Factorio, normal PvP seems not fun for you and speedrunning seems too repetitive (or you if want to do something else from time to time) then this might be a ...

Re: Colorblindness/Accessibility Improvements
I do agree with the OP. I am not colorblind but I can definitely see how difficult the game would be for me if I were.
Yes, there are mods for this but not everybody can or wants to play with mods. Especially new player experience is definitely not about mods.

Re: This game is a masterpiece, but I'm honestly really disappointed...
Is it a rant about a bad connection? Because I honestly don't have a problem with Factorio netcode, there are even online tournaments that involve fighting biters (like BBC) and players don't seem to have a problem there. Of course with cross-continental play the delay is definitely there but it is ...

Re: Setting Up a Dev Environment
I'm developing my 1st mod now and it's almost done so I'll try to answer some questions and give some advice. My goal is to get my mod done not setup myself for working as a mod developer. The points below are just my personal opinion.

Re: vanilla death world too hard
I've just tried deathworld again after some years. The biters are not a problem, you can kill them with pickaxe + fish. However the only copper nearby was under a nest and that proved too hard.
So yes, some deathworld maps are probably impossible.

Re: We support Ukraine
How about a stupid question? I hope the developers of the game Factorio will not block access to Russian players? And then I recently wanted to buy a game, until the ruble finally depreciated, but the possibility of sanctions against a simple person who cannot influence anything scares me. I ...

Re: We support Ukraine
Did you see what lies Ukrainian media outlets are writing about the war? Lies and propaganda are from both sides.
As matter of the fact, my entire family (me, my parents, my relatives and my grandparents) had to run from Ukraine for our lives and immigrate to Israel 21 year ago. Run away from ...

There is indirect PvP in the form of Biter Battles. I am taking part in Biter Battles Championship league that is just nearing its end:

Re: Using the graphics card to help the CPU out…
First you need to make Factorio run efficently on arbitrary number of CPU threads, which is not the case. That is way, way easier than using GPU.
Only then you can think about using GPU to simulate parts of the factory and try to solve all the problems related to GPU computing.

Re: Friday Facts #365 - Future plans
As someone already said RTS mode would be great. There is already a way to control units remotely, a map with zoom, autofire on units, multiple units and static defences (and adding more units is not hard at all).
Now the main problem is slow and very long early game. It takes a lot of time ...

Many great features.
I like the quickbar change as changing items on the quick bar was slow and painful process for me. My son couldn't even do that (he's 4.5).

Re: Performance while running the game on Android phone
It seems to mainly be a problem with rendering, probably the emulator does not use phone GPU at all. As for UPS 11 is not that bad IMO for emulation of very complex instruction set that has been evolving for like 40 years.

Things I didn't get at first:
