[planned] Compilatron should not destroy your iron setup

When compilatron shows me how to do a mining setup it silently destroys the setup that was already in place. The scenario should either follow the "Do what I tell you!"-Style, which would forbid me to do anything else, or made me expect that any deviation from the path will lead to destruction. Or, ...

Second time I tried it did work. I tried multiple times to reproduce the error, but I failed.

[abregado][0.17.14] non-recoverable error when oeprating scrap metal

At the very beginning of the scenario, I right clicked the scrap metal. Once it was collected an error message appeared. The scenario level caused a non-recoverable error. Please report this error to the scenario author. Error while running event level::on_tick (ID 0) __base__/lualib/compi.lua:97: b...

Re: [0.17.4] Show inserter speed in tooltip

I would suggest listing the box-to-box speed. It may be higher or lower depending on where the parts are on the belt and how far it has to swing, but B2B is going to be consistent and measurable. Sounds good to me. Seems consistent and measurable and will scale with inserter updates. It can also ad...

Re: [0.17.4] Show inserter speed in tooltip

I agree that it is tricky. I believe (unfortunately I am not sure) that I am not looking for perfection here. I like to resolve the design question: If I need to run 12 assembling machines which process 6 coal every 4 second each, I need to make 12*6/4 = 18 coal available per second. Thus a yellow b...

[0.17.4] Show progress of previous research

TL;DR Display already performed research when reselecting a research topic. What ? I started to research item A. Once its research is half way done (at 50%), I select a different research topic and let it finish. When I select the previous item A, it should show me that research it already at 50% a...

[0.17.4] Show inserter speed in tooltip

TL;DR Show inserter speed (moveable items / second) in tooltip. What ? The tooltip on the right side of the screen should show the speed of an inserter. It shows all kind of information, when hovering over an inserter, but does not show how many items per second it can move. Idealy the speed would ...

[0.17.4] Inconsistent German text (trivial issue)

In the tutorial the text used by compilatron as goal, differs from the text used in the research tree. I am asked to "Erforsche Fluchtkapsel Flugschreiber " but in the research tree it is called " Blackbox der Fluchtkapsel ". Being in a tutorial that is confusing. Use "Blackbox der Fluchtkapsel" for...

[0.17.4] Arrival: Wrong Elements disappear in loader?

Instead of copper plates I feed copper ore into the loader (belader in German) and they just disappear. I would expect the loader to not accept the items and thus show me I am feeding the wrong stuff.

I do not know if that is a bug or a feature.

[0.17.4] Arrival: Learning to open a structure is misleading

In the arrival tuturial, I clicked on the robot instead of the ship wreck when the robot told me to click. The speech bubble was a stronger indication on the click target than the flashing border around the wreck. If possible mention the ship wreck at least in the hint in the upper left. It still te...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Assembling machine ingredient limit removal I like it, that the later Assembling machines can do really more than the earlier ones. The game forces me to create them and thus directs me and guides me. The goal to just speed up things might not always be enough: I can automatically produce items of ...

Re: Friday Facts #265 - Nomenclature & Steam networking

However, I would put your (developers) own judgment first - us players like keeping things the same and won't have thought through all the exact inconsistencies between terms as much as you obviously have. Yes, developers will have the last word in this. Yes, developers will have to think through a...

[0.16.51] Copy-Paste train schedule issue

If I copy/paste a train schedule, the receiving train does not immediatly follow its new orders. In the example I created the movie for: The blue train sits at station 'P1' waiting for 'Nord' to become enabled. The white train's schedule makes it go to 'Parkstation 1' and 'Parkstation 2', but curren...

Re: Friday Facts #247 - Pricing and its exploits

As always: Try to finish! I think you are on the perfect path now: Overhauling the UI, updating scenarios, including more tutorials. That is what it takes to get Factorio 1.0. Factorio is feature complete! Once that is done: Make a vacation. Brainstorm about Factorio 2.0: will it be an evolution or ...

Revamp Blue print UI Re: Friday Facts #243

Please revamp the blueprint UI! Having the blueprint library makes blueprint less “real items”, and more like “recipes”. There are 3 places to store them: On character, in the game library, in the player library. And, even more confusing in a book inside each of these stores. If I use a blue print t...

Re: Friday Facts #243 - New GUI tileset

I like the new UI Elements. Yet, I wonder if having the cancel button being red isn’t a bit too much. There are at least two uses of a cancel button. To not perform an action: Like in “exit program“: “Your data will be lost! Cancel or Exit?” Here Cancel should not be red. pushing it prevents the har...
