Re: Gleba has killed the game for me.
I just got to this planet and I'm done. 4 hours and I didn't even set up iron/copper production. The only reason I lasted that long was because I came with some solar panels and PA with construction bots. I would quit out of sheer frustration after an hour without those. The run is dead as I cannot ...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
What's the point of nerf when people who use bots will just mod the game and the people who don't use them will still continue not using them?

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
Don't nerf bots. Enough said.
Honestly, the bots do what they were designed to do - allow megafactories. If you are going for rocket launch, bots aren't needed. Heck, for a speed run they are only a pointless resource sink.
But bots are boring! Seriously, at that point in game spamming belts left ...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
You know what's THE easiest and most efficient way to nerf bots without outright destroying them? Make provider/requester chests to be 3x3. They will no longer be useful for the common 'two lines of beacons with assemblers between' builds. The end.

Re: Friday Facts #223 - Reflections on 2017
You ARE aware that this is a game and that RL logic has literally no place in it?
You seem to misunderstand Oktokolo point: Whether by coincidence or not, water and nuclear reactors are easier to operate close together in both RL and Factorio. If you don't do that, then that's absolutely fine ...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts
First fluid, now bots, what next? Trains? They too move tons of stuff that could be moved via belts, so why not nerf or throw them away? Honestly, it seems that I will stop playing vanilla factorio at 0.15 and any upgrade would be with tons of mods whose only purpose would be un-nerfing everything.

Re: Friday Facts #223 - Reflections on 2017
Wow, fluid capacity changes are ridiculously harsh!
How about just reducing barrel stack size to 5 and fluid wagon capacity to 50k liters? That would mean balanced capacity for fluid wagons and a cargo wagon full of barrels. This would give us a choice of using the more flexible but expensive ...

Re: So many barrels...
First thing I plan on doing once I switch to 0.16 is downloading mod that fixes barrels. I have tried using pipes, fluid wagon and fluid tanks in 0.15, but it was just an exercise in futility. Barrels are simply way better than the alternative.

Re: Friday Facts #223 - Reflections on 2017
Of course megafactories were possible. But the amount of jumps you had to go to get everything working with pipes only was massive. Then we get barrels and megafactories are suddenly much more fun and easy as you no longer have to use pipes for everything. Now we got barrels nerfed because people ...

Re: Version 0.16.8
You know, maybe instead nerfing the barrel, boost the pipes and fluid wagons? Pipes in their current form are, well, crap. Low output, super annoying to set up, takes tons of space. Honestly, pipes suck and the worst thing is that you are literally forcing players to use mechanic that they don't ...

Re: Friday Facts #223 - Reflections on 2017
Because with size 250 barrels, you get 250*40/s=10k fluids/s over a singel blue belt. 3.3k/s over yellow, 6.6k/s over red. In comparison it is hard to transport more then ~1k/s by pipe. Also a bot all 12.5s could keep a refinery running. now a blue belt transports 2k/s. That is a lot closer to a ...

I'm against the fluid change. Rather than buff pipes/fluid wagon, barrels were nerfed. Rather than give us more options, options were taken away.

Looking for an island on an ocean.
I am looking for an island start, but with the island located on a large body of water, so I can turn it into huge artificial land mass where I put my entire factory. All island starts I got by now (over a dozen) were located on large-ish lakes, while I would be looking for an island on something ...
