Re: [2.1.12] Map generation tile probability mismatch
I haven’t looked into this at all but could this simply be the logic that makes sure the starting area isn’t pure water? The starting area has more complex logic compared to simply tile probably values.
I think that's covered by the elevation expression(s), which would make water a far weaker ...

[2.1.12] Map generation tile probability mismatch
I've found that the 'wrong' tiles seem to be selected for some coordinates during terrain generation. To be clear, this is not important. It doesn't impact gameplay and I haven't noticed any visible weirdness. It's just inconsistent, caused issues with a tool I was working on, and drove me kinda ...

0.000 Program arguments: "/home/chindraba/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Factorio/bin/x64/factorio" "SDL_EVENT_LOGGING=1"
From this it looks like you're passing SDL_EVENT_LOGGING=1 as an argument, rather than setting it as an environment variable.

Re: [2.1.7] Game does not start in steam on linux
We have updated the experimental branch on steam to use Steam Linux Runtime 4.0, which ships with a newer glibc. Please check if this fixes the problem for you. We will keep looking into ways to lower the glibc requirement for the standalone version.
Can confirm it fixes it. After undoing ...

Re: [2.1.7] Game not launching on Linux, no rewrite of log file
Hey all, don't despair, there is a way to run Factorio on older Debian/Ubuntu systems without Proton+Win.
The solution is to run Factorio via Steam Linunx Runtime 4.0, which has correct version of glibc. There is a high chance you got it installed already, if that's the case, all you need to do ...

Re: [2.1.7] Game not launching on Linux, no rewrite of log file
Can Ubuntu 22.04 (which ships 2.35) be redirected to Debian bookworm it based on (has 2.36 in repository)?
Not in any practical/worthwhile way as far as I know. Ubuntu isn't really based on a specific fully finished Debian version. It's more like they 'fork' from one while that version is mid ...

Re: [2.1.7] Factorio is not responding when launching game
Yeah. Even if it's not the same issue (nobody in the other thread even got a window to show up AFAIK) you'll probably run into the issue in that thread anyway. It looks like Mint 21.1 is based on Ubuntu 22.04 which has glibc 2.35, while Factorio 2.1.7 needs at least 2.36.

Re: [2.1.7] Game not launching on Linux, no rewrite of log file
because of SDL3 needing to link against Wayland and Waypipe libraries.
I was so confused by this until I tried it myself. By Waypipe, I'm guessing you meant Pipewire? Because that was the first no-go I ran into trying it on Debian 11. But uhh... just throwing it out there... Ubuntu 22.04 has ...

Re: Version 2.1.7
I have a Pop_OS! 22.04 system, and it still has glibc 2.35. So Space Age won't launch on my system.
I was able to go through some contortions involving podman and a debian:12 container and get it to work, sort of. The graphics are really slow though because the nvidia drivers won't work properly ...

Re: [2.1.7] Game not launching on Linux, no rewrite of log file
Sorry about that -- we really try to support as much as possible but in this case we hope people will be able to keep their desktops up to date.
Eh, I dunno if it's fair to say an actively supported distro version is out of date. I can't afford to break all my stuff or take the time to fully ...

Re: [2.1.7] Game not launching on Linux, no rewrite of log file
Aw poo
Well, thanks for explaining. My distro version still has a year of support and I can't upgrade right now. But the Windows build with Proton Experimental seems to work fine (minus a few workaround-able quirks that I don't think are Factorio's fault), so it's all good for me at least!

Re: [2.1.7] Game does not start in steam on linux
Assuming this is the same problem as in berggen's thread, this is not just an issue with Steam as was suggested there. If this is the same glibc issue, it occurs with the standalone Linux client as well.

Re: [2.1.7] Game not launching on Linux, no rewrite of log file
That means the game was not actually started so this is a steam issue. Check the steam logs.
This is an issue with the standalone Linux version as well.
I'm on a distro based on Ubuntu 22.04 and upgrading is not something I can do right now.
I compiled glibc 2.36 and after a lot of poking I ...
