can you direct me toward's a good tutorial

My friend and I are trying to play multiplayer together, however, whenever either of us attempts to join each other, we get the "Couldn't establish network communications" error. What should I do.

So I typed in pretty much every number there (not all together) Including both the default gateway, IPv4 and IPv6. Nothing worked, I kept having chrome tell me the page doesn't exist

how do I set up that connection?, keep in mind i'm not a minecraft player or anything, I don't have any experience with this, all my use of multiplayer has been through matchmaking.

Edit*: do I need to reconfigure my router or anything, I'm running a 2015 airport extreme.

All I want to do is create a game that my friend and I can play on. I'm not sure weather that would be making a sever, playing local, ect. And I don't really care as long as my friend and I can actually play. I got to a point in the tutorial where they asked me to type in my IP address into my brows...

That sounds fun, I have played a lot of single player and can build factories pretty effectively, this would be a good introduction to multiplayer.
