I wish I had some kind of useful advice, but I do not. I am doing multiplayer on a fully end game map with my son and we have none of the issues you are describing. The machine I am hosting on isn't even all that powerful. It has an i5 CPU, 1070 graphics card, and 32GB of RAM.

I think you are making Gleba a bigger problem than it actually is. My research array is set to only insert packs when they are needed, but even if research is not using a bio-pack from Gleba and it spoils in a Biolab, I have an inserter to remove it, put it in a logistics chest, and have a bot come ...

50% may be tough to catch up on. This map has almost 1000 hours on it. Been playing pretty solid since we got Space Age. I have the computer in my office, so I can just leave it. He sleeps in the same room as his computer, so he turns it all off when he goes to bed.

Space Age steam power is an 18.3% achievement percentage, and that is probably damn near everyone on Steam that bought the game since you get that super early.
Everything else goes down from there.

This game is all about 'chasing carrots'.
But, I am glad you clarified your point. The way I read it I thought you had played through already and hit some kind of obstacle that was not possible without a mod being loaded. Relieved to learn that was not what you meant at all!

Perhaps I am naive about something coming up, but what mod is required to complete the game? Historically I don't use any mods until I have finished the vanilla game, and that is the case thus far.

We just built a reasonably smart logistics infrastructure and got to 2kSPM. You get incredible boosts from research and module improvements. Taking it to the level of commitment you are describing, you should easily surpass your 1K goal.
