Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay (Apple Silicon)
Hmm, I see, interesting. Thank you for the data. Do you guys expericence any negative effects when Vsync is off - specifically, do you see screen tearing? @hgschmie: what macOS version do you have? good afternoon, no, there is Vsync to turn off - there will be no graphical artifacts, there is no di...

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay (Apple Silicon)
Your emotional experience is valid and important... Thank you, it means a lot to me. To clarify, I am not the Mac guy ... I am OpenGL/DirectX/graphics subsystem guy ... and so far this seems to "fall into my department" What I don't understand, given the current state of Mac integration a...

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay (Apple Silicon)
Yeah I was also aware people are not talking gigabases here but new saves. I also owned a M1 macbook before and I know it's a powerful little machine, it ran DOTA2 better than my Steam Deck even tho the game is x86 code being emulated on Rosetta. Factorio also ran great, back then it was still the ...

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay (Apple Silicon)
AAAAAAAAA, it seems to me that we will soon be left without MAC OS support. Let's live together comrades It seems to me that the whole factorio developer team has very limited resources for the AppleOS. It is rumored that only one single developer is responsible for the whole Apple environment. I w...

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay (Apple Silicon)
Apple Silicon just seems to be particularly poorly (graphically ?) suited to run Factorio ? [...] I do agree M1 is powerful chip, and it's possible we'll find a good way to use power of the CPU to reduce workload put on the GPU (which is something we always try to balance, but what makes it complic...

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay (Apple Silicon)
after SDL update, overall almost always 60/60 (rendering enabled) dips noticed
1) 500 drones flying out at once in drone mall - 30/60
2) flying over water 50/60
3) watching train unloading at station 30/30

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay (Apple Silicon)
* Issue isn't just for Apple Silicon macs, issue affects Intel macs also * Issue isn't just for external displays, there are performance issues on internal display also Right, the 2.0 is more demanding then 1.1, Space Age is more demanding than vanilla 2.0. The higher the resolution and the weaker ...

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay
Hello, to say it clearly. Factorio 2.0 is more demanding on GPU than 1.1 was, and Space Age significantly so. If you could play 1.1 on high resolution display with "Render in native resolution" graphics option enabled and 60 FPS, your might not keep 60 FPS on highest graphics settings in ...

... Thanks. And I am sorry I didn't communicate the higher HW demands better. I believed there were 3 separate issues, but all of them manifesting in FPS drops, but now I am confused ... Are you saying that disabling "Render in native resolution" improved FPS for you? And again yes, and a...

Re: [Dan] [2.0.8] Unable to set custom UI scale
DgotsMots I have the same computer and your problem is twofold. First off, as you say, your native screen resolution is 2560x1600, but because you have your resolution scale set at "Default" instead of doing what it should be doing and rendering at at the native screen resolution of 2560x...

Re: [2.0.14][macOS] Massive performance regression versus 1.1.110 when zoomed in
in general, it turns out that the game does not meet the stated minimum hardware requirements))) interestingly, turning off the smoke doesn't help me. The game launches and runs on the stated minimum hardware, so obviously it does meet it 🤷♂️ I understand you have suboptimal experience playing the...

Re: [2.0.14][macOS] Massive performance regression versus 1.1.110 when zoomed in
It's not actively worked on at the moment. It is difficult issue, I don't know what we are gonna do about it yet. At least for the moment, I've found a workaround is to disable smoke which seems to make the issue basically disappear, so that may be related. I'm worried about when I reach the other ...

Re: [2.0.14][macOS] Massive performance regression versus 1.1.110 when zoomed in
good day! the same problem on more powerful macbooks, I previously wrote about an identical problem on the M3 pro, resolution 1280 by 800. and FPS 30 when approaching a loader/furnace/drill. is it possible to hope that the problem will ever be solved? I don't know what that happens to you yet. Our ...

Re: [2.0.14][macOS] Massive performance regression versus 1.1.110 when zoomed in
I am not mac user, I have just macbook for testing graphics, but I normally have it set to 1680x1050 and have Render in native resolution disabled in Factorio, as the machine is just not powerful enough to render the game in 3360x2100. It's worth noting that this is the native resolution of MacBook...

Re: [2.0.14][macOS] Massive performance regression versus 1.1.110 when zoomed in
To be nitpicky, not that you don't have an issue, but the zooms aren't exactly the same. (There are two pre-set zooms bound to F9 ( Reset zoom level ) and Ctrl+F9 ( Set zoom level to 2x ) keys. But possibly somewhat different on Macintoshes ?) I did max zoom on both, apparently it changed between v...

Re: [2.0.7] Frequent FPS slowdowns during gameplay
Any update on this issue @vinzenz @posila? (Is there another way to tag users or maybe I just don't have permissions to do so? In the preview it doesn't look like it's tagging.) I asked the same question in private messages, with no result yet(((I’m studying how to install Windows on a mac book, I ...
