I know this issue and try to fix it with next update. It looks some locomotives stop not at correct position or have little different values from vanilla. The different comes from older versions of factorio. Newest locomotives should work. So the locomotive will not work even with vanilla fluid wagg...

Strange behavior !
As fast solution i try to copy settings from vanilla iron and copper.

Because this was also in 0.17 and nobody knows if the devs this change again - i have planed and go for a different approch in future.

Upgrading boilers to red or green reduces pollution to 35.4 or 21.3 and increases temperature or output (use corresponding turbines too). You are right, no big deal ...
commenting out the conflicting lines ... and uploaded the fixed version.

not removed yet in case dev's decide next version the lines are needed again :)

This was the old fuel-type and left over for down compatible. Should be the yellow energy-symbol also allowed as fuel, can produced in any assembling machine. yes, sort of ... it's a little bit tricky to balance steam-output without buffer-tanks. if energy-load/usage is only half you can have problems :)
Only turbine which runs always 100% if the net has usage is rensuir-turbine.

The "Rudolf Diesel" are for compatibilty to an older version and can be removed soon. hmm, okay i see it can produced, this should be not possible since some versions ... so i add this canister to fuel-types for use. A turbine for this is on Todo-List. Also Quantrinum-Reactor is underpowered and needs a buff :)

This fuel can only be used in Obninsk and Mastercrafted Obninsk (atm). You need also a extra Obninsk to prepare the fuel.
Prepared MX -> Obninsk (to radiate) -> Washer (to cool) -> done (stable)
In Obninsk you need the grey cogwheel recipe to produce MF for generators
