Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news

Incredibly exciting, can't wait to see what you have to show us! I'm sure the expansion will suck another 1000 hours out of my life, just as the original did.

Re: Option to hide player name on minimap

This doesn't work. I ran the command, it said achievements were disabled, but my name still appears as is on the map. https://i.imgur.com/shbl4oX.png https://i.imgur.com/AoYIYLr.png Note: This is the first result on google for hide player names factorio which is why I am bumping it. If someone could...

Re: [for 0.17] "always on top" programs dont work with full screen factorio

This issue is still present in the latest version of Factorio. I can't use programs like OnTopReplica while playing Factorio in full screen.

Re: HDR

because the sprites are rendered as simple image file formats.[/color] What I meant by asking for HDR is not a simple toggle in the game, but a re-rendering of all the assets. If all the assets were re-rendered in HDR, and there was an option to enable them in game, would it make a visual difference?

HDR

Are there any plans for Factorio to support HDR? Would it actually make a visual difference?

This roadmap is quite out of date. Are there any other roadmaps out there that are more up to date?

Display the max distance that an underground belts and pipes can go before placement

TL;DR When an underground pipe or belt is in your hand, display the maximum distance it can reach. What ? Similar to how when you place the second underground belt or pipe, the first one placed should also show the maximum distance. I made some example images of what I mean. https://i.imgur.com/2lk...

Please don't release 0.17 before the 22nd of December. This is my last semester of school so I want to do it right.

Very interesting. What do you plan on teaching using this game? I remember something like this was done with Sim City, to teach kids urban planning and resourcing.

Re: Friday Facts #218 - Import bpy, Export player

Seeing the colors become much more subdued from the lower alpha levels reminds me of Dunkey's Bad Graphics video. I hope you get the higher alpha colors working, makes the game more visually pleasing to have things colorfully stand out.

To be fair...

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Factorio. The game progresses at an extremely subtle pace, and without a solid grasp of theoretical algorithms most of the engineering will go over a typical gamer's head. There’s also Factorio’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into...

Re: Friday Facts #212 - The GUI update (Part 1)

Like [Marcus] 猛虎爆進拳 proposed on Steam, I support his motion to add an Alternate Skin option for the GUI..for those of us who love the Fallout-y look of the game: Original: Idea: RUST SKIN FTW! :D What if you start out with a rust skin, and as you progress technologically you get an iron skin, then ...

"Paving the ground is like Herpes"

I was playing on a server, and I had been paving a lot of the factory by hand. The server owner and other players did not complain, even when I paved swaths of the factory in front of the admin's face. Around 7 hours into the game or so, some guy is on and sees me paving it and starts freaking out t...

I keep trying to get friends to play but only got 1 of them into it. The rest just try it once or twice and go back to World of Warcraft. Ugh.

Re: Is it better to buy the game on Steam or direct?

Steam takes somewhere between 15% to 30% cut, so buy it direct from factorio.com. Steam is a great platform for spreading the word and increasing sales however, and I'm sure the developers are seeing a huge cash influx since it's release.

Re: Version 0.12.25

Bug that crept up in this new update: If there is no space between the version and the comparison operator in the dependencies, an error will pop up and you can't launch the game. Code that worked in 0.12.24 but not in 0.12.25 "dependencies": ["base >= 0.12.11", "? bobenemie...
