Came across this while looking if a bug was already posted for a different issue, but I can speak to #1. Unlike the report here, selection box tools seem to work fine if you keep holding the mouse button until the autosave finishes, but if you release while its saving, the tool behaves as if you can...

Hmm... that does work except now I have the disadvantages of an actual fullscreen mode (slow application switching/monitor going black) If I can't figure this out, I'll probably just fully turn off adaptive sync when I don't intend on using it, that takes a bit longer (and can displace windows) but ...
