Nope, I've never seen the chat color change. Always stays orange for me as the host and red for him. I've changed my character color a dozen times to see if anything changes it.

Text typed after the color change. In other words, I change my character to blue and type something in the MP chat and the chat color is still orange instead of blue. My friend changed his color from red to purple and his chat text is still red.

I'd like to upvote this suggestion and add that having the chat notification noise and the research noise the same is confusing. I'd love to have at minimum a different sound for chat and research notifications. Or as Impatient suggests, a different chat sound for each user.

Glad to see this is fixed. I thought it was a problem with my 12.x save as I just barely upgraded my headless Linux server to 13.10.
I'll wait for the update to play again.

Honest first impression from the demo in Oct 2014 was meh, I don't get it and don't care for it.
