Mods will disable reporting achievement progress to steam (basically disabling achievements). You will still get the achievement, but it is only for that save, and it does not get reported to steam.

the vanilla resources weren't horrible for me on that map. I do have a world with RSO currently. it takes a bit more work to get to the good patches of resources compared to vanilla, but once you have ventured far enough out, it's a lot less hopping from spawn to spawn.
