Yes, I was using 1.11.1, but only notifications enabled. I reverted to the last version I had kicking around (1.10.15) and it's fixed the initial problem.

At some point tomorrow, I'll reinstate 1.11.1 and turn debug logging on, to see if that gives more information, which I will then share.

Ah! You put me onto the right track. I'm not sure if it's the default for the latest Bob's, but with 'new steel' checked in mod settings, steel was available, but unresearchable, if that makes sense. Disabling 'new steel' fixes the issues. Thanks so much for the speedy response!

Thanks again! I have to say that I've finally got the full Bob/Angel/Pyanodon bandwagon rolling, and your mod makes it possible to even enjoy the experience in parts ;).

Disabling Bobs/Angels (and nothing else - I, like many, run with a huge mod list!) makes the error go away (though I also disabling your compatibility mod for obvious reasons!) Afternoon Kingarthur.

Thought I'd post this here rather than in Pymods as I'm running the full Bob/Angel stack. Trying out the new petroleum Pymod, with the latest and greatest pre-requisites loaded. I get this error:

I only ever use the first steps in the chain for no-catalyst sorting of iron/manganese and copper/tin. The rest is, as you say, pointless as it stands, unless you enjoy complexity for complexity's sake, in which case I would point such folk at Pyanodon.

It's an opinionated mod-suite that doesn't really set out to be a crowd-pleaser. It's a shame because I think Pyanadon is the most talented graphics modder on the scene and his work deserves to be more popular. Start with industry and coal processing. Industry just adds nice buildings, coal processing is the gentlest of introductions to the suite.
