Did you know that a portable toilet is cheaper than a switch? And you can use all the mods. So to me the switch port is kind of pointless.

Re: Six legs good, Eight legs bad!
Do brains really count legs? The brain can count up to 6 without counting (usually). So, 8 is something more that can be background calculated. Wild guess: the brain freaks out because it only sees "too many". I have also heard of people who show strong reactions to centipedes and millipe...

Re: Six legs good, Eight legs bad!
Do brains really count legs? Yes, eight legs trigger 100 times more than six legs. Ten legs is also not so bad. But eight legs, that's just pure evil. There is evidence that in some people a part of the brain specializes on spider recognition: https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn26483-arachnopho...

Re: Six legs good, Eight legs bad!
You must be kidding, is this serious?!? Yes, some people have a natural fear of anything with eight legs. The brain goes into alarm mode immediately and generates vivid memories to be recalled for more horror later when sleeping (or trying to fall asleep). It is irrational since it's only a...

Re: Upcoming releases
I suppose that 1.0.x are bugfix releases for the "stable" branch of factorio that don't break any mods. Maybe dev will be called 1.1.x and the next stable would be 1.2.0.

Six legs good, Eight legs bad!
Oh man, that Spidertron is triggering my Arachnophobia hard. I wish there was an option to reduce the number of legs to 6 or 4. I know there is this mod to hide all legs: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/arachnophobia But AFAIK you can't use that kind of mod in online multiplayer. Is there another easy...

Re: Friday Facts #356 - Blueprint library for real
It takes a lot of guts to admit that world of warcraft has deteriorated your life. To me it reads differently. Yes, he spent some weeks of time with WoW but it doesn't sound to me that it was a lasting addiction. That time with WoW actually relieved him of his factorio addiction. If anything, it ma...

There is less aggressive way to advise him to let Factorio live as is, and move on to another project to find new challenges ? I let Factorio behind after 750h (rounded), because I never found a friend attracted to it. So I'm missing half of the game. Also, building Factorio, and playing Factorio a...

Re: Friday Facts #356 - Blueprint library for real
@Kovarex: Do you realize that factorio lacks a soul? It doesn't give you purpose. Instead it is a learning experience and becomes useless afterwards. There is no infinite replay value unless you become stuck in your development. You reached the next level by playing the game through your son. One da...

I must say, the new design looks quite nice! It does, however, add quite a bit of white space and clutter to the page.

Re: Friday Facts #331 - 0.18.0 release & Train pathfinder changes
Initially we planned for the Character GUI to be in the first 0.18 release. However the task was proving quite difficult the way it was written, and when the release date came it was not ready, so we delayed the entire 0.18.0 release (twice). After a tough and thorough review, we decided to discard...
