Re: Meaning of Factorio in my life
I sometimes dream too of the scenario of landing in some distant planet too far away from earth to ever dreaming going back with nothing but some machines and maybe an AI assistant. It's a very fascinating idea, also terrifying, extreme loneliness can quickly bring someone to madness, but somehow I ...

Meaning of Factorio in my life
I've just realized that Factorio may mean more to me than I thought. I'm 23, I am a loner. I don't require typical social interactions in my life, yet I need love like anyone else. I had some relationships, but none of them lasted very long. It's hard, especially when you struggle with social anxiet...

Re: Friday Facts #227 - Rendering, Trees & Scenario talk
It would be nice to have "production score" implemented in single player. This would be a nice measure of factory progression in-game.

Re: Save compression
I noticed, I just hope that experimental 0.16.16 is stable enough to play comfortablyZavian wrote:The option seems to exist in the config files for 0.16.16, but not in 0.15. I seem to remember a recent thread where Rseding mentioned adding it, so it probably won't work on older versions.

Re: Save compression
Config.ini has a setting for it (that's disabled by default). ; Options: none, fast, maximum ; autosave-compression-level=fast I doubt you'll see much improvement in savetimes though unless you have some weird edgecase like a huge map on a really fast SSD but slow CPU. How long does saving take for...

Save compression
Hello, I have a question. Is it possible to disable save compression entirely? I don't mind bigger saves, I have a lot of space on my HDD. I've heard that compression takes most of the time in saving the game. I know that in WinRAR you can select no compression at all (which is the fastest). I still...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
I don't like both of those ideas: - To remove worker robot item size research - To increase recharge time But it would be fine to: - Increase bots power consumption (with nuclear power plants it doesn't bother me and you could get the feeling that powerful solutions like bots require a lot of power)...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts
I don't know if anyone got to the same conclusions I did, but there is no need to change logistic bots mechanics. The bots are good for rapid factory expansion, but they come at a cost. Bots require more computational power than belts and this is the reason you won't be able to build the biggest fac...

Re: Biggest factory, my computer can handle 2.0 [In Progress]
Nice! I've launched the rocket in my game in a little over 28 hours in game. My approach was very different, not only because I used factorissimo with it. I calculated that making an item directly with replicators costs more energy than creating the ingredients, so I had copper/iron/steel smelting ...

Re: Biggest factory, my computer can handle 2.0 [In Progress]
There is no need for such control mechanism. Once the power plant gets big enough, there will be no way to stop it, unless power satisfaction will be like only 50% or so for replicators to produce not enough solid fuel. That would cause chain reaction. Low power satisfaction -> Low solid fuel replic...

Re: Biggest factory, my computer can handle 2.0 [In Progress]
I just realised I do need waterwell mod also because making 5 water in 5.5 seconds for 400kW is just to expensive :) Yes, I wanted to replicate water too, but then realised how much is needed for power plant. There is a funny thing though. I must be careful not to stop power plants, because, when I...

Re: Biggest factory, my computer can handle 2.0 [In Progress]
- Start replicating solid fuel, cause coal is inefficient (For 1MW of generated power, 250kW goes for coal replication). Coal has 75% efficiency and solid fuel has 87.5% efficiency. How did you get those numbers? I see a simple replicator can make coal. Recipe time is 2.5 seconds and crafting speed...
