So much information is displayed when hovering over the drones but not what I would consider the most relevant piece of information.
...nevermind.... maybe make it more visible?

There is some unused UI space that I feel would be appropriate to use for tossable items, perhaps even adding a hotkey to select them.

This would free up some clutter under the normal toolbars and would help prevent misclicking during combat.
