- What did you do?
I built a lot of space platforms (~30) to supply my base on nauvis with iron ore, calcite, and space science.
- What happened?
Several of the platforms aren't dropping their items despite the surface requests not being remotely fulfilled, plenty of space being in the cargo landing pad, and thousands of cargo bays being connected. I particularly notice this when it's space science not being dropped, since it limits my research speed.
- What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
I expect all the platforms to drop their stuff to fulfill requests provided there is space in the landing pad and enough cargo bays to accept it.
- Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Most the platforms work and send down their items, but some don't. If I force them to drop items by putting them in the drop slots manually, they're start dropping items automatically again. I don't know if this causes other platforms to stop working, but it might.
My random guess is that there's a hard throughput limit per planet on cargo pods that cannot be raised by adding more cargo bays. That's very unfortunate if so, and seemingly unnecessary, since seemingly the only reason to limit it is performance reasons. One should expect a performance hit if they spam something like space platforms.
Attached is my save. Space science platforms 3, 4, 19, and maybe others are filled with space science and idle, despite there not being nearly enough delivered to the surface to satisfy demand.

Re: [2.0.20] Space platforms not dropping requested items
This looks similar to 122321 Not all rockets launching when ready, just in the opposite direction.
I tried to remove all unfulfillable requests on Nauvis and all space science and iron ore started coming down at once.

Re: [2.0.20] Space platforms not dropping requested items
Removing the surface requests that I knew never would work (like quality science, which I decided to never produce) did help. Didn't solve it completely but fewer space platforms are idle.
Re: [2.0.20] Space platforms not dropping requested items
A reminder that viewtopic.php?p=624367#p624367 was improved and is marked as currently resolved - but there's officially still more room for improvement.
Until then I'm flipping between razing ground deposits of ores and trying to (well... honestly, CONSIDERING to try to, as I'm nowhere near close to recyclable asteroids tech) get Quality components off the orbit ONLY, for the sake of keeping air-to-ground shipments at minimum.

Re: [2.0.20] Space platforms not dropping requested items
I "solved" my problem by force dumping all the items using a request on the platform with a max of 0. Obviously this resulted in the maximum on the landing pad not being respected, so I had to void the excess with recyclers.
Not ideal. And I imagine it might still have the same problem in the long term since this only reduces the number of total drops (as they're larger and different types are lumped together).
