What people want is not a way to get energy from obsolete wooden stuff by burning it (I think). People want a way to dispose of obsolete stuff - whatever it is made of - without using the "put it in a chest and blow the chest up" trick.
Agreed.
Maybe a good change to the base game would be recycling through an assembler, costing some power to do it and returning at least X% of the materials used. Intuitive and fairly realistic.

However I feel like not only power poles or any woods material gets obsoletes fast. But even Burner miner and stone furnaces could have a better usage like. For building an electric furnace you need also a stone furnace for it.
It's a small thing, but I miss being able to burn wooden crates and electric poles as fuel. I have a powerplant template with what amounts to a garbage chest and I got a strange satisfaction from consuming all the old poles and crates; call it efficiency, call it revenge for having to had to hand craft hundreds of electric poles!
