Stupid-named-diploma was a really obvious absurde ; )
Mining by shaking phone ROFL, that's so cool)))))) And shooting biters with physical buttons? Volume up - to shoot and volume down to reload? And specially implement "reloading" just not to leave buttons useless)
For future: you'd better make a short video, then play it on your phone, while imitating you're "actually" playing the game with you fingers (and shaking the phone)) - thus it'd be more natural, thus fool more people)) Would take some work, 'cause such thing are not made properly from the first try ; )

Haha I'm not sure which parts to believe or not.
I really want it to be true that there is a mobile version or will be in the future but I fear we are being trolled after looking at the calendar.

I do mods. Modding wiki is friend, it teaches how to mod. Api docs is friend too...
I also update mods, some of them even work.
Recently I did a mod tutorial.

To my surprise I was really excited about Factorio on Android... until you mentioned the "keep paying if you want to keep playing" model. That's just not going to happen for me!
April fools aside- I'm curious, so "f2p" is the model even for core gaming ports? I mean is there even a 'core games on mobile' market big enough to make an accurate statement about this?
wtf...
PS: Shaking your Mdevice in order to mine would be the most stupid thing ever

Re: Friday Facts #132 - Side Project
Very annoyed and disappointed that you are considering going down a mobile / F2P route.
You've had massive success with PC Factorio and rightly so, you have been exemplars of Early Access / "paid beta" game development in a world where EA has now become synonymous with failure and con merchants.
Why you would throw away that reputation based on greed for "tapping into a market" and slapping your paid PC fans in the face by given away free versions of your game to other platforms is beyond me.
If there's ever a game that does not translate well to mobile, it's Factorio.
Snap out of it. Finish the PC version before you start dicking around with free to play nonsense.

f2p:
- pay/credit for each mod in use (1 free mod, 5 mods = 4 credits) add extra mod +1 credit
- I would give 100 free hand crafting Than pay 1 credit for each final product (not the subs)
ofc the numbers are here for explaining my point, and should be 'changed/improved/tested/...'
I would not charge credit for automating, just for handcrafting
maybe credit = science 1,2,3,4 + alot of time and energy
=> charge credit or 'turbo science 5' for some tech upgrades (eg. laser damage 15)

Re: Friday Facts #132 - Side Project
Well, as you know, Wube managed to wipe out belts lag not so long ago, i.e. too much optimization before game could run on (relatively) weak mobile devices. However in (relatively) distant future Factorio being on mobile devices is possible. There're already '90s epic games ported, e.g. HOMM3 and TTD. I believe when the game will be released on PC - devs definitelly should work on porting it, if they will see it possible. I'm only for it. I think, almost anyone will be for it. Just do it like Mojang did (Minecraft) - different versions for different devices, so no cuts in original version, and some variety in other version - just to encourage biggest fans.Xterminator wrote:I really want it to be true that there is a mobile version or will be in the future but I fear we are being trolled after looking at the calendar.
Oh, I had, be sure, but those aren't diplomas actually, and serious people aren't usually so proud of having those : )Adil wrote:You surely hadn't seem many those independent courses and lectures out there.RobertTerwilliger wrote: Stupid-named-diploma was a really obvious absurde ; )
Well, it's a bit disappointing not to get actual news, but I'm still not getting people who are b!tching about being fooled and having their "time wasted" : /

Re: Friday Facts #132 - Side Project
I honestly think Factorio on mobile devices is a good idea. In my honest opinion, however, I think that credits should be based on time instead of items produced, and that the timer starts when your first item in produced and removed from a crafting structure (Furnaces, Assembling machines, ect.) without human intervention.
Re: Friday Facts #132 - Side Project
Do you actually believe that f2p shit should get anywhere near factorio. Re: Friday Facts #132 - Side Project
Shame it's an April's Fool, would love to see it on a mobile device.
However, this would also greatly slow down the main progress, so this is quite understandable.
