Yea, it was similar with me. But anyway, when it comes to everything looking the same and not entirely being self-explanatory I funnily had a similar experience when first going to Gleba. xD There I also stumbled around for a while to find out what the Yumako & Jellynut stuff looks like and what is just random plants scattered about for decoration. At least I found the swamps pretty confusing at first.

And even though I had both Yumako & Jellynut seeds eventually, at first I did not know where we actually can plant the seeds because the neon green & magenta areas on the map were you can initially plant the seeds were also a decent walk away from my drop location and there was no distinctive explanation that you can only plant them there. However there are various shades of green and magenta areas on the map. I found out only by experimentation by running around with the agri tower in the hand that the areas which are neon green and neon magenta colored on the map views are the only soil at the beginning where you can plant their respective seeds. xDIn retrospective it was "yea makes sense", but it was not as obvious.
