Pretty cool to see an inside look into the testing platform behind Factorio. A little sad that 2.1 is a little further away than I hoped, as I've been craving the circuit improvements mentioned in a few threads.

Thanks again for making space age a great expansion. I've had a ton of fun. =)

Congratulations on a very successful release!

Since we're on a bit of a reflective theme this week, I'd like to say that some of the FFFs I've enjoyed the most have been the ones that dug into the technical details of the engine: how it was able to scale so far and handle the massive factories that us players threw at it. It's a tremendous achievement and I think many of us would love to hear more about how you developed and architected Factorio. Have any of you ever thought about writing a book or presenting more of what you've learned at any conferences?

shame we're only getting one factorio expansion.
i could've forseen an expansion including caves and oceans levels under the surface of the planets, as well as different kinds of planets like a barren moon/murcury planet and maybe a gas giant. not sure how the gameplay would've worked for the gas giant though and if it'd be too similar to underwater

The game I'm thinking about is related to WoW in a similar way as to how Factorio is related to Minecraft.
That's some exquisite kenning-like description.
Can't wait to see which post-industrial revolution would follow industrial revolution which Factorio made :)

Thank you for the soundtrack update, it means a lot to me (and probably many others).
This is yet another instance of Wube listening to the community and making things better, I don't know many other companies which have such high standards here.

The many months/years leading up to space age have been a very exciting time, 13:00 each Friday has been a highlight of every week.
Factorio, space age and everything around it is such a masterpiece.
Where ever your journey leads next, I'm sure that it'll be great and I'll follow it with great anticipation.

THANK YOU!!! <3

I don't think they're permanently closing the door, it just might be waiting 5-10+ years for something new.

Thanks for all the new FFFs we got, and all the hard work on fixing those recently emerged bugs, hopefully you can rest a bit soon !

Are there plans to keep fixing bugs for 1.1.110? I found and reported a crash that is reproducible every time. It's one of those annoying edge cases.

Thanks for this great expansion but I'm being honest here and say that I'm kinda sad reading we're not going at least a second expansion but maybe one day...

Anyhow thank you again and good luck with whatever is gonna be your next game!

Multiplayer will probably stop working at one point in time, which is inevitable. However, everything else in Factorio is 100% offline. So once the last bugs are patched and the last minor features are released in 2.1, this game will just stay there and remain playable as long as your OS supports the software it relies on. Which is probably a very long time (and worst case people will make an emulator that make Factorio playable on Windows released in 2100). In other words: nothing to worry about for now

Thanks for the soundtrack update! It is great to hear the pieces in full glory, even as I type this.

Thanks for all the bug fixes, I've seen the amount of small issues go down drastically!

I also look forward to the last small additions you have in mind.

It's really been a delight!

Well, no idea how the solution for x = (Factorio/MineCraft) * WoW looks like, but I will give it a try once it becomes available.

Have a nice Weekend! :D

The server browser might die, but you can easily connect by entering server info manually. There is no reason that multiplayer would stop working.

If you're talking about Wube's matchmaking (or SteamWorks MultiPlayer's help with port forwarding), then both are optional for Multiplayer.

Feels like the end of an era. Again. The Friday Facts where a nice spice for every Friday, I am sad that they stop but I get the reasoning, there is only so much you can talk about.

Although, there is much and more I would like to read about: The early design stages of Space Age, content you just couldn't make work, planets you thought of but turned out not fun, artworks and sketches of enemies and buildings, your internal process to decide if designs are too complicated or not enough, stories about office life etc.

I would love the idea of a Factorio book, it being either about the decade of the Factorio development itself with the content I just described, or a more general book about game design. It seems to me as if you actually have something valuable to offer in this that others could benefit from, and even though I am no game designer myself I love reading about it. Currently reading the book of the Tynan Sylvester (Rimworld) and cannnot stop thinking how I would love a book like this from Wube.

Thanks for everything. Except making me missing deadlines. No. Especially for missing deadlines.

Factorio as game engine is surprisingly manageable and flexible for its capabilities.
By the time assumed "end of an era" would become apparent, there may or may not appear huge overhaul mods which would extend the fun even further.
Hell, Space Age grew out of such "end of an era" mod!
