TL;DR
We have the parameters, sadly many don't get how they work are are limited, as such i would like to sugest some ideeasWhat?
Quality of life. The reason why I want this VS a mod, is because there are always issues with mods. You install a train station signal mod? you have 100+ trains that go around due to this mod? Well you never know when a bug happens and then you need to rework your whole network due to the bug not being fixed so now you need to work around it.... it is not fixed because the modder stopped supporting it.... and next Factorio update, this mod dosen't work at all so now what? This is why I want this to be vanilla vs mod that does the same. Also the parameter thing can be used for other stuff. Like we all know that insted of being forced to a limited rocket space, a "start any planet" option is better in order to experience a new planet from 0. And here comes for the parameters, since you can use them with the Selector Combinator to ajust the size of the items for the rocket. As in, if we get a "increase rocket storage" then we can use the selector combinator to not messe up the amount we need to send for the rocket. And of course, this includes the trains for delivery, the space ship's request/supply info. Meaning the parameters are in used the more you need different items and advance in game, especially if you use mods that add many more resources. The risk of a bug or similar is way higher. And currently, the display panel dosen't even show the image unless we manually set it. When, if we where to use the "Signal parameter" as an image, and then we give let's say 1 iron plate as a circuit signal, the panel's image to change to an iron plate. But that is currently not possible unless you use mods.Why?
I am honestly not good and organizing ideeas. Sorry. Ideea is to avoid bugs that happen the more mods you add. When i mean more mods i do include the one for trains, circuits, new areas/planets, new resources. And you never know what happens and then you need to abandon your save since no fix. Plus to reduce the hassle for creating stations and such.I don't know about others, I set my trains for "if full cargo" AND "Cargo Or Fluid Parameter Station is NOT full" to go to a "Parameter Drop off" and the next one is a "Parameter Pick up". This is one single interupter (and the second interupter is for fuel if they are at depo and fuel is low). The only station my trains have is the train depo where they wait untill the "Cargo Or Fluid Parameter Station is NOT full". And once they are in need, they go to supply that station and next moment they go and get full again. Like this, only need 2 train groups. One for fluids and one for cargo. And I can supply all and any of them.
However, myself and many others, would prefer if we create a Station that, in it's name uses the "Signal parameter". And via circuit to allow us to change that parameter. Like this, I can have 3 or more different cargo trains come to the same station, where they are unloaded (filter and such are used to separate items).
And like this, we can create more easily since everything will be connected via circuits cables. From the Station that needs resource when X is lower then N. Or request Y if it's lower then N. And the pick up station also is just a single blueprint since the station names can be changes. Something that is relevent with mods that add 2 or more byproduct of crafting VS the tipical 1. Also for quality. Let's say the station usually collects common items. Well that places also start doing uncommon and rare. But uncommon and Rare are stored untill there is enough for 1 train wagon. And when they are, they will be send to that 1 single station, because now the "parameter cargo pick up" is "rare parameter cargo pick up". Again, this is more for mods where, that mod or mods, add mutiple resources, meaning it's extremly time consuming to create train station for each and every element, then for their quality version, especially if you add modes to have more quality levels.
So again, this is to implement more flexibility for the game. And while I focused on trains, the subject is to improve the parameters so that, regadless what it is. IF you can connect it to the circuit network, and you use the "Signal parameter" on something (belt, inserter, display panel's displayed image, train station's name, so on), the "Signal parameter" to change to that of the signal that is being send via circuit
