Hello everyone! I ask knowledgeable players who play on MacOS to give feedback on my personal development.
I play on MacOS, have played 1200 hours, when trying to switch from the game in Steam to the browser - the picture constantly freezes. I want to see the library, the space map and the crafting instructions on parallel screens. The situation is aggravated by multiplayer. I solved the problem by introducing the ability to launch one version of the game online and 2 versions of the same game in parallel but offline, since simultaneous connection of one license is impossible. As a result, I got the ability to display space on 1 screen, the game on the 2nd screen, and the crafting manual on the third. I did it for MacOS, if there are craftsmen who can do the same on Windows - it will be cool.
It works for me on a Mac Mini, I'll be glad if someone tests it on other versions of MacOS, I'd like to post it on the official portal as official software.
The launch is standard, be sure to AFTER launching the factory, launch the application and select screen sharing
I'll be very grateful for your feedback!

Re: Multiscreen on MacOS for parallel launch
(I do not currently own a Mac; pardon my ignorance) Do you need to run Fullscreen? Is "Maximized Window" feasible under OS X for games?
Yes, you can run multiple instances of Factorio simultaneously so long as they have a different User Data directory.
The Factorio Game & the Wube Authentication server will both permit you to login from multiple instances using the same Account at the same time - but it really only makes sense to try playing 1 game at a time. If there will be a second person playing then they should buy their own license - but you can do whatever you like by yourself.

On Windows, the "Standalone ZIP" is pre-configured to keep all of its Saves & User files in its own folder, so this is actually really easy: just launch the game! I will sometimes start a second Instance for Vanilla vs Modded testing, or ScenarioEditor fiddling, etc.george.labrakos wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 5:20 pmI did it for MacOS, if there are craftsmen who can do the same on Windows - it will be cool.

Thanks for the answer! But I can't run 2 copies of the game at once on my MacBook, and I don't really want to buy 3 licenses at once just to watch Craft

Re: Multiscreen on MacOS for parallel launch
The idea is to sit with a large monitor and see crafting on the big screen, look at the details of platforms and space on the other, and conduct activities on the planet on the main one.
Re: Multiscreen on MacOS for parallel launch
You can do all of that with a “LAN Multiplayer” server, by selecting “Host Saved Game” and deselecting “Verify user identity”, as well as Public/Steam visibility.george.labrakos wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:41 pm The idea is to sit with a large monitor and see crafting on the big screen, look at the details of platforms and space on the other, and conduct activities on the planet on the main one.
You can then join this Game from other Copies of the game (on the same computer or your laptop). In Settings —> Other make sure you are Logged-Out, then set a “LAN Player Name”. From the Multiplayer Menu —> Browse LAN Games.
You only need to purchase 1 License per Human; not 1 per PC.

Yes, but I solve it via LAN, with just 1 button. The point is that when you launch the game on a Mac, you don't need to log in separately, the game just starts on 3 screens. I just did it for myself, for the convenience of the game, I thought maybe someone would like it

Re: Multiscreen on MacOS for parallel launch
Made a small update.
Thanks for the feedback, fixed setup error, the crash when minimizing one of the windows. Now when playing Factorio, with a multi-screen, everything looks like you are an operator of a nuclear power plant)))
