[2.0.15] Foundry concrete recipe is in intermediates instead of logistics category
[2.0.15] Foundry concrete recipe is in intermediates instead of logistics category
The recipe foundries use to make concrete with molten iron is incorrectly placed in the intermediate products category. It should be in the logistics category alongside all other concrete recipes.

I was told this is intended.

What’s the rationale, if you don’t mind my asking?

Re: [2.0.15] Foundry concrete recipe is in intermediates instead of logistics category
Why does that justify a recipe producing a logistics product not being in the logistics tab alongside all other concrete recipes?
Re: [2.0.15] Foundry concrete recipe is in intermediates instead of logistics category
It doesn't really matter. I asked the person in charge of making that decision and that's the response I got so I moved this to not a bug and moved on to the next report.Nemoricus wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:17 pm Why does that justify a recipe producing a logistics product not being in the logistics tab alongside all other concrete recipes?

There are also reports like 122408 Productivity Modules cannot be used for some intermediate products, that assume that productivity modules can be used on all, and only, recipes in Intermediates.Nemoricus wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:17 pm Why does that justify a recipe producing a logistics product not being in the logistics tab alongside all other concrete recipes?
Putting Foundry's concrete recipe into Logistics tab goes directly against that.

Compare linked thread. See also stone bricks.
Re: [2.0.15] Foundry concrete recipe is in intermediates instead of logistics category
Indeed.
It supports the argument that sets of recipes in Intermediates and recipes allowing productivity modules are not equal and neither is a subset of other.
It says nothing about where a recipe producing concrete should be.
Concrete can be crafted by recycling scrap. Are you suggesting it should also be in the Logistics as well?
Scrap recycling is next to other Fulgora recipes.
Concrete from molten iron is next to other Vulcanus recipes.
Rocket fuel from jelly, Biolubricant, Bioplastic, Biosulfur are also next to each other, with other Gleba recipes, not directly next to the item they are an alternative way to produce (albeit they are all in Intermediates).

The thread about artificial soil taking productivity modules is a counterpoint to this particular argument. Artificial soil of all four types is placed in the logistics tab, their recipes are in the logistics tab, and yet they can take productivity modules. Following the reasoning of this quote, the artificial soil recipes should therefore be in the Intermediate tab.Muche wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:41 pm There are also reports like 122408 Productivity Modules cannot be used for some intermediate products, that assume that productivity modules can be used on all, and only, recipes in Intermediates.

Since those recipes are currently categorized in the logistics tab, to me it seems more consistent that concrete recipes should likewise be categorized in the logistics tab, whether or not they take productivity, as they produce a logistics product.
Scrap processing is a special case, as it produces a variety of products. Almost all of them are in the intermediate products category, while only concrete is logistics. There's no perfect way to categorize it as a result. I believe that it is also unique in that it produces items in multiple categories, but I am not 100% sure of this.
Setting aside that concrete from molten iron is not Vulcanus exclusive, pipes and pipes to ground from molten iron are are sorted into the logistics tab. Big mining drills are sorted into the production tab.Concrete from molten iron is next to other Vulcanus recipes.
Re: [2.0.15] Foundry concrete recipe is in intermediates instead of logistics category
Lets look at how items from Logistics/Terrain subgroup can be used:
Stone brick - tile, Concrete+Concrete from molten iron, 5 other recipes
Concrete - tile, Hazard concrete, Refined concrete, 6 other recipes
Hazard concrete - tile
Refined concrete - tile, Refined hazard concrete, 8 other recipes
Refined hazard concrete - tile
Landfill - tile, Gleba soils, 2 other recipes
Gleba soils - tile, Gleba soils
Ice platform - tile
Foundation - tile
Cliff explosives
There is a clear split. Stone brick, Concrete, and Refined concrete can be used as tiles and have numerous other uses. Landfill got other uses only thanks to Gleba.
Other items in the group are only usable as tiles.
Lets look at how interconnected some Intermediates are:
Plastic - 8 recipes
Sulfur - 4 recipes
Battery - 6 recipes
Iron stick - 6 recipes
Engine unit - 8 recipes
I'd say Stone brick, Concrete, and Refined concrete would fit with them just fine in this regard.
For me personally, Stone brick/Concrete fit next to Iron/Copper plate/Iron Stick better than they fit next to Landfill, and I have to keep reminding myself they are in fact in Logistics when choosing their recipe.
I just take it as a historical fact.
