Option to Enable/Disable Trigger Techs for Nauvis

Hi, this is my first thread in the forums and I wanted to share something I feel should be re-implemented back into the game.

First off, I understand the reason for trigger-techs is to help new players when they start learning the ropes of the game. As someone with over a thousand hours in this game, I want to share that my experience with the trigger-techs has been less than comfortable. Every play-through, and I realize this is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I have to go and mine a single piece of uranium or get one pull out of a pump before I can continue my research any further due to the way other research is gate-kept. This would not be an issue as I have to get around to making new outposts for these resources anyway, but I find the fact that I can't disable the trigger-techs on Nauvis when making a new game frustrating.

From a logical point of view I don't see how it would be difficult to give us the option to enable or disable them based on what we want to have to deal with during a new playthrough. I will point out that trigger-techs do feel appropriate upon landing on a new planet when discovering their unique resources and methods of progression, but on Nauvis, specifically with oil and uranium unlocks, they feel like a bump to me more than anything else.

I get people will say there's probably a mod for that, but I don't feel there should be. I think this is a minor thing that can be re-implemented to please both new and experienced players alike without ruining anything for the other. It would not disrupt the flow of the game to let us have an option to play without Nauvis Trigger Techs. -

You could just link it yourself. :-)

I agree with you in Principle - I find it annoying to have to mine a chunk of each resource on each planet. But in Practice, everything can be done via Bot / Drill so it is really just a matter of stamping down a Blueprint. I think that the Unlock system is GREAT for first-time playthroughs as a helper mechanism, but it does kinda feel like a Gate-for-the-same-of-Gating. If you are Replaying the game often enough that this mechanism feels “boring”, maybe a different question should be asked: How or Why are you revisiting this bit of gameplay so often? It only happens once per save file…. I use the Editor mode’s “Instant Research” often to skip the early phases of the game, so I don’t find it to be a Blocker myself.
