Space Age is a no as there's not enough RAM(3.2GB RAM+VRAM available to the application) for all the textures and 5 planets worth of factories. Also CPU can't update 5 planets on 60 UPS.

I will include more information in this week's FFF.
to be honest even the 2.0 update to the nintendo switch sounds like a massive undertaking and i want to say thank you for being a dev that takes this approach with what other games developers would unlikley invest such time in

i know i personally will greatly appreciate this update as factorio on switch is my primary method of play these days

Thank you for letting us know! I'm already looking forwards to the optimizations included just for performance enhancing. The amount of things everyone on the factorio team has added to the base game alone is amazing and will make a massive change for the better I believe.
Nintendo switch -
- 7 rockets launched
- 3 worlds made too large to load
- Countless times jumpscared by biters when the sound was off
- Fiddling with nuclear power more often
- Trying to find the maximum SPM of a switch (1.2k SPM max reached)

These might make sense for factorio on switch.
You can actually do the increased reach and inventory space without mods. If you use the map editor, and go into the Forces tab(the one that looks like a red flag), then press "Edit other properties", you can configure the player reach distance, inventory bonus, among many other things. This is essentially what a mod for those things would be doing anyway. The only downside, if you even care about it, is there's no achievement gains with a game from the map editor.

In the case of reach distance, there's also a Console command for this, and I would suggest that you look at the command here on the wiki, since this particular thing has several values for it, including a few you might not want to modify. But if you only modify the ones labeled in the command, you should be fine.
