Protocol for updated mod?

Post by hypermark »

I recently update my mod, should I create a new post for it or just update the old one?

I see you already updated the thread (41199), this is the recommended procedure. Since you are the thread starter you can edit the contents of the first post and the thread title itself. You can also add a new post to that thread mentioning that you updated it and highlight the changes.

The advantage is that people that are subscribed to the topic (using the subscribe button or the "notify me on reply" feature) will get a message if you reply to the thread. Also, links that point to the thread (from the mod portal or website link stated in the mod) will link to the updated thread instead of an old one.

It hasn't come up much since everybody usually updates their thread, but in case somebody makes a new thread just because they updated their mod we might merge it with the old one anyway.
