[TREEFARM - ADDON] Caffein v0.4.0

Caffein-Addon

Description:
Adds two new plants, namely coffee and tea to the game. Both can be used to produce caffeine which then can be used to produce "crafting-booster". Using them (like other capsules) increases your crafting speed. However it comes with a twist.

How it works:
If you take one pill your crafting speed is doubled for 60s. If you take another one in that "buff-phase" the timespan in which the effect is applied is increased by another 50%. Another pill increased the timespan by 33%, another by 25% and so on...
After the "buff-phase" there is the "debuff-phase" and here comes the twist. Because consuming that much caffeine can't be healthy, your craftingspeed is descreased (to 50% of the default) for at least 90s. However if you take yet another pill in this phase the timespan for the debuff is decreased by 10%.

Note:
- coffee and especially tea are growing very slowly, so be patient ;)
- seeds can be used similar to "vanilla-treefarm" seeds (auto-farming with fields, placing in the wilderness, etc.)
- you will receive your first seeds after finishing the related research

Hi there,

this mod sounds awesome!! :)

But I have two problems so far:
- When I create a new world with the addon installed I get the following error:
"Unknown key:"Error while running the oninit: ....11.3\mods\Treefarm-Caffeine-Addon_0.2.2.zip|control.lua:181: Map doesn't contain 1 player, this function can't be used" "

That's probably the case because the player is not logged in yet when the world is created.

- When loading an existing world, the following error appears after half a second:
"Error while running the event handler: ...\Factorio 0.11.3\mods\Treefarm-Mod_1.2.4.zip|control.lua:590: Unknown item name: "coffee-seed" in luaGetItemCount."

This closes the world so I can't play with the mod :/

I'm currently using v0.2.2 of the mod

Important!!! You also have to download the newest version of treefarm mod (1.2.5)

The idea is pretty cool, but in my 11.10 the mod doesn't work. Can you fix it please?

Also i think that such idea has to be developed further, it kinda breaks the balance of the game quite a bit. In reality coffee and tea have negative effects too. You feel more energy at first but you pay a price for it later on. Especially coffee.

I suggest at least a little fix here, for instance - your crafting speed is say 200% for 120 sec but then it's 50% for 3 minutes. Or something like that. I mean "Buff->Debuff" kinda chain. In this case it would make sense to drink more coffee for a longer buff but then you'd have to pay for it with a much longer debuff.

How about that ?

Hmm I wonder why it isn't working...
But doesn't matter, I already made a new version that is compatible with 11.10, however it will require the not yet released new treefarm-mod.

However the caffein release is delayed, because I like your suggestion and want to implement it first ;)

Just uploaded v0.3.2
This version fixes a major bug that the modifier wasn't applied at all :oops:
I also reworked the mechanics how the modifier is applied. I added a short howTo section in the OP which describes it.

This new version is a lot more fun to play with, the add-on is really cool! i recommend it to anybody who likes TreeFarm, definitely!

I find it reasonable to take 1-2 pills at a time, because they give +60 and +30 seconds of positive effect. Next pills just give +20, +15 etc. Kind of expensive unless you're super rich already :)

On the de-buff phase it looks a bit unreasonable to use boosters since 10% of that time per pill is maybe a bit too expensive again, you need to take a few pills to make a significant difference. But maybe that's a good way to make it a lot harder to abuse! great work, keep it up!

The mod hasn't been updated to work with 0.12.11+. and I don't know if it would be compatible with Treefarm if it was updated for the current Factorio version.

How do you get the tea and coffee seeds? I think you're supposed to get them when you research, but that doesn't really work. I think there needs to be a different way to get them naturally.
