[0.17.6] Crash: "railSignal.distance >= 0 was not true"

I was trying to test something when the game suddenly crashed. I had made a sort of Y shaped rail that would reconnect both the top ends of the Y back around down to the bottom to create a continual two pronged loop. There were 2 trains on the loop and both had just made a circuit and were trying to figure out where to go next when the game crashed. I was in the process of putting down rail signals to properly keep them running in circles while I tested out circuit conditions(I hadn't even gotten to that point yet). There were 4 train stops(2 with the same name on each tine of the fork, and 2 on the main "body"). I wasn't using any mods.

My autosave2 was my latest save, but doesn't have the trains on the tracks or even the full track laid out. I don't know how much help it'll be. I don't know that I can fully reproduce the bug, but I can try.
