[2.0.12] Biolab recipe not set from circuit network

Post by Maeximus »

I connect a constant combinator with a green cable to a biolab, set the constant combinator to "copper bacteria cultivation" with the value 1 and set the biolab to "set recipe". The icon of copper bacteria cultivation with the value of 1 is visible in the mouse over of the biolabs circuit network tab on the top right but there is not recipe set for the biolab.

For assemblers its working. Attached current factorio log

Keep up the great work, its a lot of fun to explore the new worlds! Loving it!

Do you have the required technology researched? Before it's unlocked, the biochamber will indeed ignore the signal and not set the recipe.

Other troubleshooting ideas:
Is the behaviour the same with Iron bacteria cultivation? (It should.)
Does the biochamber correctly set other recipes, for example oil cracking? (It should.)
Are your trying this on Gleba? (The Bacteria cultivation recipes can be crafted on Gleba only, on other planets the recipe will not be set.)

Interesting! I have a biolab which I want to toggle between iron and copper bacteria cultivation and which was already set on copper bacteria cultivation, so the only change was to connect the constant combinator and check 'set recipe' which rendered the biolab without recipe.

I will upload a savegame later since it seems to be a more specific problem.

I noticed the same bug with centrifuges (or maybe just with the Kovarex enrichment process recipe). I tried using the circuit network to swap between Uranium processing and Kovarex enrichment process depending on how many of each of Uranium 235 and Uranium 238 I had. When the Kovarex enrichment process recipe is set, the centrifuge just stops working and shows no recipe.

Reading Biochamber fails to set/reset recipe via circuit if it has no nutrient fuel taught me another option for the behaviour OP observed.

When changing a recipe via Set recipe+circuit network, all the previous ingredients and products have to be taken out before the new recipe takes hold.
So going from Iron bacteria cultivation to Copper bacteria cultivation, all Iron bacteria, possible Iron ore, and Bioflux need to go out before the recipe change takes hold.
Similarly for Centrifuges. Uranium ore has to be taken out, then switching to Kovarex enrichment happens.

Yes, that seems to be exactly what was going on! Thanks! I couldn't reproduce it yesterday but this time I did not clear the old recipe instead I only checked "set recipe" and it works flawlessly.
