In the space map view, one cannot design a big ship with ghosts since the space map simple does not allow scrolling past physical entity, it does not count ghosts, which drastically limit how far you can build with ghost.
Why is this a bug and not a feature request. One was supposed to be able to do everything with ghosts, this blocks it, also the auto request system is impratical for shipdesign, since it keep sending a full rocket of items you might not want yet, and turning off the auto request, which is exactly what I did, make so you get blocked by the scroll limit.
Scroll limiting is not considering position of ghost to decide where to stop the scrolling.
Picture above, shows some ghosts at the very bottom, it is simple impossible to zoom in and continue design since it is blocked by the scroll
It starts to be inconvenient way before one reaches the scroll limit, so you start to zoom out, but then is hard to see what you are doing, and it also have a limit.
Then, there is nothing you can do to continue.
[2.0.20] Space map scroll does not consider ghosts
Re: [2.0.20] Space map scroll does not consider ghosts
The space map "limits" are determined from the edges of the platform.
The solution is then to send up couple of stacks of platform foundations and build a thin stretch (like 1x50 tiles) in each direction you intent to build the platform. That will allow you scroll and zoom in in the desired way.
I am pretty sure those platform tiles will eventually get used in the final design (whatever size & shape that will happen to be).
