[0.15] Refuses to launch - error at 98%

Post by fwyrl »

Factorio crashes while loading sprites, at 98%, with the error message:

"Value must be a directory in property tree at ROOT.other"

This has happened every time I've launched the game (4 or 5 times now).

I use the Steam version, and since this is a file issue, I feel I should mention that Factorio is installed on a second (internal) drive, rather than my main drive, while both Steam and Windows are installed on my main drive. If it matters, my SSD is almost full as well - only 1.5 GB free of 225 GB.
Edit: I should also maybe mention that I have launched Steam with elevated privileges.

PC specs:
16 GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia 965m
Intel i7 6700HQ (Skylake)
Main Hard drive is a 1TB HDD
Secondary drive is a 225 GB SSD

(Slightly edited) Log attached - I blanked out my PC username, but that's it.

Screenshot probably tells you nothing new, but here it is anyways:

If you guys don't like discord links and would prefer me to upload it here, I can do that.

Duplicate of viewtopic.php?f=30&t=44506, should be fixed in 0.15.1. Until then you can get it to work by disabling the Steam Cloud feature.

For Mac users having bought Factorio from the dev site there is a solution as well:

Have a 0.14 installed and install the 0.15 downloaded .dmg file from the dev site over it. When asked to replace the old version say yes.
It leaves luckily the missing application support file the new version misses in the system in place and installs the 0.15 without hiccup.
