Suggestions that have been added to the game.

Furnance off grid.

Post by Foxar0123 »

As i see, all "buildings" are applied to a grid. It seems that furnance is off grid, which may sometimes confuse, whenether it is to the side of a track or not.

Picture included.

Furnaces are actually 2×2 buildings (same size as a burner mining drill). I agree that the graphics are kind of confusing, though.

Yeah it does look a little confusing, the furnace just looks too small to be 2x2, a change of texture could clear that up.

That would prevent the player from going between the furnaces.
It's really nice and useful to be able to go though my furnace line.

I love being able to walk between furnaces, it's a necessity. Without that I'd be in conveyor belt hell.

Maybe the size of furnaces should be changed to 1x1 so it matches up to the grid.

Maybe they could simply render some sort of a stone slab under them to mark the actual footprint.

1x1 would also be unfortunate.
Not always both ingredients arrive on the same belt (and thus 3 inserters are required)

You could always leave space between your furnaces if they filled the entire 2x2? It's not like you have to place them as close as possible

Maybe you could add some floor decoration to the furnace, like some kind of pavement which would take area 2x2, so it would be more visually visible. Also it would be nice if we could use stone to build pedestrian paths on which one can walk faster. You could even use your old stone graphics for that.

I like the idea with sort of a stone floor decoration.

Since this is not a bug I moved it to Ideas and Suggestions.

Lol, having a 1 wide gap between every 15 or so woudn't be that bad. Would it? :D

i actually wish i could walk between my other buildings too...

still, if you're using a 2 conveyor system where 2 inserters need to be on one side and only one on the other, then you pretty much HAVE to have a space between furnaces

You can, if you leave space to walk between :p

Perhaps you could change the ground when placing a furnace to indicate where it is located, such as a gravel floor or something.

How about you simply make them the same size as the graphic?

That'd mean they are offset from the grid, which wouldn't work.
Also it wouldn't allow for two inserters along one side, which would probably be a problem for most.

Being limited to one inserter per edge would be a close to a show-stopper like the inability to make steel.
