[Already exists] Send logistic group to circuit network

Post by ividyon »

TL;DR
Allow a way to project a logistic group as signals into a circuit network.
What?
Currently, you can achieve this by making an orphaned roboport in its own logistic network, placing a requester chest inside it, and requesting the logistic group inside the chest.

The roboport's "logistic requests in network" can now be read to read out the logistic group.

This is obviously an obnoxious workaround and requires a dedicated space for a detached roboport that doesn't connect to the rest of the network.

It would be nice to have a more "official" way of doing this.
Why?
I believe the ability to cast a logistic group into signals would be useful for logistics.

In my example, I have a separate Fulgora outpost from my friend in multiplayer. His main base holds the landing pad, which means anything I want to request from space for my outpost has to go through his base.

I have a train set up to ferry materials between our bases, and if I had easy access to logistic groups, I could use it to set requester chests at the train station to deliver my requested items to my outpost, as well as having the same group in my freighter space platform, and the landing pad.

you mean like a constant combinator does? or do you need to read the maximum too?

I'm a moron!

Thread solved, this is already implemented!

How do you do that with a constant combinator? I hook up a wire to a roboport in the target network and set it to "Read logistic network contents".

You add each logistic group as a group to your constant combinator. Then add the signals & values you want it to output when that logistic group is active.
(I think anyway, I haven't used this feature yet, but I probably should so I fan easily mute and unmute my alarms...)

I only seem able to add logistic request groups to the constant combinator, not logistic networks.

Sorry, what are you trying to do? Roboports can tell you the requests from their network, and constant combinators can rell you what logistic group is enabled right?
I think logistic groups are global to all logistic network.

I'm talking about the same thing as the OP --> get the entire contents of a logistic network (not logistic group) as signals on a circuit network.

Oh, this has nothing to do with "logistic groups" then.
In that case just connect to a roboport.

there's an option on the roboport to output the logistic network contents (I've been using this to auto rebuild bots that get killed by bitters)
