[2.0.9]Missing confirm deletion dialog on space platforms

Post by DaNeo »

Hi there,

i deleted today mistakenly my space platform, cause its instantly gone...
This is quiet a bit annoying, cause it happends more than one time and loading autosaves with 20 min delay between.

I would be thankful for a confirmation dialog to delete space platforms

Thanks

Hi,

There is the undelete GUI, where you have 5 minutes to reclaim deleted platforms

This may what happend to me to, my Space platform is just gone, it's way to easy to delete it on accident while fiddeling with the schedule.

There needs to be a warning or a log or something, I lost so many high quality items that way.

Seconding this. Accidentally deleting a space platform is stupidly easy, and a regular Ctrl-Z won't undo it. By sheer coincidence I had a save which was only a few second old, otherwise I would have lost quite a lot of progress. The current intended undo feature is extremely hard to find, so I doubt anyone who needs it will actually find it.

I did manage to eventually find the "Undelete GUI" Klonan mentioned, but only because I 1) read this post, 2) spent 10 minutes looking all over the interface for a general-purpose Undelete menu, and 3) deliberately tried deleting a platform a few times to see if anything changed.

For reference, this is what it looks like:

This is an incredibly subtle change, and there isn't a clear indication in the default GUI that there is supposed to be an undo button either.

Considering how big the impact of deleting a platform is, could we either get a confirmation dialog, or could the Undelete be made more explicit. For example, something like the Photoshop below would be way easier to find.

So i think this is the same button you all refer to inside hub UI? It doesn't ask to confirm :/

Suggestion: Delete Space Platform Confirmation

Post by Kodaxx »

TL;DR
Can you add a confirmation prompt to delete space platforms?

What?
It's basically my mistake, but I've had to reload autosaves multiple times because of misclicking the delete space platform button, which is very close to the X to close the space platform hub menu. I was just wondering if you could just add a confirmation box so it doesn't just delete immediately without any confirmation and lose everything into the ether.

Why?
It's nothing major but it's just really annoying when it happens and can be solved with a simple confirmation or make it so you cant delete it unless the platform is completely empty? The second part isn't required but a confirmation would be very nice.

Thank you for taking to the time to read my suggestion, other than that the DLC and base game are still fantastic and keep up the great work!

Is the 5 minute time window to change your mind not enough or even better than an “are you sure” box?

I really don't think so, personally. In fact it's mostly redundant with autosave. The big risk (which has happened to people on reddit) is that you'll click it, thinking you were just exiting or something and then not notice it was gone until it's too late. A confirmation box would be a lot safer.

Having that button below the close button is just an offense to UX design. The button that you are least likely to click shouldn't be next to the button you are most likely to click.

Conformation popups generally do not work. People are trained to just click "ok" without reading. I once did an experiment, and only 20% of the people interviewed after using the software had read the popup. And a shocking 40% didn't remember seeing the conformation popup at all.

I agree that the button to cancel deletion is not easy to find, you need to know it's there to notice. I think it could be made as large as the "add platform" button, and be greyd out by default, so players can't miss its function in normal time, contrary to an icon that only shows up when you may already feeling like it's too late.

It could maybe also turn red (not green) and show a timer for the next platform whose cancel deletion option is about to be revoked, to make sure a player get its attention caught by it when it's available vs when it's not.

YES, and also move the button to a different place. I know most players close the windows with Escape or Q, but having the delete button right next to the close windows button is a UI trap.

That's still not an excuse not to have confirmation pop-ups for the other 40-80%...

My only valid reply to that is... "wait, there are confirmation pop-ups?" I never registered :)

You click the close button?

I just use hotkeys, so I never have this issue. That corner of the menu never gets touched.
