Train horn - warn the user about bumping

Summary
I suggest that a train horn could be introduced, that could be activated either manually or automatically when a train is about to hit the user. It should be more or less cheap to implement, but it will save lots of user "lives" when they crossing railroads!
Primary
Just turn on the horn when the user is standing on the tracks (or next to them?) and an approaching train can run over him in 3-5 seconds.
Secondary
Make it possible to control the horn in the train manual mode just for fun or to signal to another player.

Only thing missing is a warning horn.

This one doesn't make sounds, apparently, but it says it shows warning lights where a train is about to show up.

Thanks for the links! But these mods don't implement the suggested idea. theTrolleyProblem is more or less close to this, but the solution is not authentic. And what I understood is that the problem is an actual one!

It would be awesome if you could wire up a real air horn to the game so that when a train is about to kill you in game a 160 decibel air horn sounds behind your head and you stroke out irl.

I also used for some time a debug-mode-option, to show the breaking-point of a train. So I knew, when I saw that breaking point incoming: RUN!

Think it was that: show-train-braking-distance - The distance a train will take to stop at its current speed

Thanks! The think is that Factorio intruduced a trains that copy behaviour of trains in the real world: thay have stations and schedules, they follow traffic signals and so on. But the most famous property of any train, the horn, is completely ignored. It is not good.

Train horns when they start up, stop, or hit a rail crossing or gate could be a real nice immersion add. Safety feature, too! I've been slapdashing it by rigging a speaker to the signals inside intersections or player crossings, but it's just not the same as a good horn.

Reminds me of the classic Get off the tracks mod. That one seems to be deprecated now but was more immersive than "teleporting" away.

Trains should whistle a second before the're about to hit a player. So s/he can react.

not gonna be free to implement. it's going to be expensive, CPU-wise.

Exactly. It’s more or less like the calculations for gate opening/closing, but the gate is very fast and very wide. ;)

See also the arguments above. In narrow areas, with many trains this will get soon very annoying.

I think I can say: this will never come in the suggested way. What I can think are some of the features of the mods above. So I will not move it to won’t implement yet.
