Skippable stops in Trainschedules

Post by ShenLong »

TL;DR
Make Stops in the Train depend on specific dependencies in the train.

What ?
Imagine a base where you have a trainstop only to refill gas on your trains. I though it where cool to have a only stop there if you have "more than X units cargo" or "less than Y units fuel" or something.

Why ?
It would lower the fuel-consumption from trains. 'cause very far away trains doesnt need to come the long way into your base just to fill up every turn.
Also it potentially make trainnetworks some less complex, or even more complex. I cant imagine for now.

I would really like to see this in the game. This feature could also be used for NOT going to the item pickup station if the train still has plenty left in it but still needs to make deliveries.

That's a lovely idea! Seconded. I'd like to add that it'd be nice to have several conditions that could be added at once, grouped with ANDs and ORs - just like the regular train stop conditions are now.

What I like with this suggestion is, that it looks quite simple to implement.

There is meanwhile a great variety of suggestions around the subject of “somehow skipping, waiting, priorizing the next or current train stop.”

What this idea forgets is for example, that I can setup such skip-condition for all train stops. What then?

And it targets only this one case of low fuel; there are mods, that solve this refueling-problem in different ways.

Sorry, I don’t have currently the time to search for the links. Maybe others will look. :)
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Presumably the same thing that happens if all of an automated train's stops are deleted: It just stops in its (literal :D) tracks.

That is true that i forgot about that corner-case. I would make it mandatory to have at more or equal of 2 stops in the schedule and at least more or equal to 2 "non only-if" Stop to enable that option on a stop.

Or something along that line...
